A St. John's University student, who has been missing for over 10 days, contacted police after seeing her missing person reports to tell them that she was alive.

Erica Desai, 19, initially told police that she had been abducted but later admitted to meeting a man and running away with him rather than tell her parents that she was having trouble at school.

Police say that her school had recently suspended Desai for using her roommate's credit card.

The student was last seen on Jan. 20 when her cousin dropped her off at her dorm.
