Guest blogger Jackie: Do you remember the kicking and screaming, the waiting and weeping -- the months of frustration, while waiting to be united with our daughter Lucy? Well that's over.
For over a year, we were fingerprinted and interviewed. We took classes and read countless books. We did everything we could to prepare ourselves and our boys for the biggest challenge our family had ever taken on -- but we could never have been prepared for the long, difficult journey to Lucy. While I yearned for my daughter a world away on her first birthday, thousands of readers followed along. When my husband expressed his pain by writing his baby girl a beautiful song, we couldn't believe the support we received.
And when I couldn't take another day wondering if my daughter was safe, it was the momlogic readers who traveled across the sea to meet her with me. You saw me hold her for the first time, kissing her face, before having to face the excruciating pain of leaving her behind.
In September, we finally received word that we could go get our beautiful daughter. Those first days after meeting her were the most beautiful and devastating moments of my life. We had no idea that when we brought her home to meet her brothers, we would struggle as a family through the unbelievably rough adjustment period.
Now, five months later, we look back at all of the tears, joy and laughter, knowing that while we started down this path as a family of four, we have a lifetime of discovery as an even stronger family of five.
We couldn't have done it without the kind thoughts and words that kept us going -- from the emails and comments from strangers to the love of our families. Because of that, we are proud to share the this, the final video in our journey to Lucy, with all of you. Thank you!
