We talked with Alexis and here's what this mom with soul had to say!
ML: How has the road to Hollywood changed yours and your family's life?
Alexis: My life has changed for the better and I have so many great opportunities right now. Also, people come up to my parents in restaurants and ask them if they are Alexis Grace's mom and dad.
ML: What was it like leaving your daughter to come to Hollywood?
Alexis: It was really hard because I'm a mom and moms are really attached to their children. It was the first time I've ever spent a lot of time away from her. It was so hard, but I talked to her everyday to help maintain. She (2-year-old) Ryan had a really tough time adjusting to me being gone and then just as she got on a schedule, I was sent home and it screwed it all up! It will take another week or two to get her back on a schedule. Although, she was so excited to see me -- she ran up to me at the airport and gave me a flower.
ML: Was it hard to focus with Ryan at home?
Alexis: At first it was really hard to focus, because I had her on my mind, but then I got used to it. They kept us so busy and that helped. She was my motivation to do better and get further!
ML: Would you do it all over again?
Alexis: I would definitely do it all over again. I had so much fun being a part of "American Idol" and it was the best time in my life. But now I want to move forward and see what else is out there!
ML: Who on the show gave you the best advice?
Alexis: I got great advice from a lot of people like Ryan Seacrest, the great musicians, the celebrities who visited and past idol winners -- just so many so many great people.
ML: Who was your favorite "Idol" judge?
Alexis: Well, I don't know them that well, but they are all great people. They have done so much to help all of us.
ML: What is your main goal as a young mom now?
Alexis: To take care of my daughter and pursue music. I'm interested in acting and I think that might be easier than having to on tour if I'm a musician. I definitely want to stay in the entertainment business -- I've wanted to entertain since I was my daughter's age.
ML: Are moms on "American Idol" treated with a little more care?
Alexis: Everyone is treated equally, but the moms definitely stick together and bond more because they can talk about their children. It was so nice having other moms on the show.
ML: Would it be too hard to bring a baby or young child with you?
Alexis: It would be so hard because contestants are so busy, but it would be so nice if every now and again they could bring the kids in to see the parents
ML: If you could do it all over again would you?
Alexis: Absolutely, I had a great time and I'm really happy!
ML: Would you let your daughter be on a show like "American Idol"?
Alexis: Totally -- in a heartbeat! It's a great experience all around and it can change your life for the better.
Stay tuned, because this is one young mom who has plans!
