Should Casey Anthony be forced to answer all the questions in the Zanieda Gonzalez civil suit? Gonzales' lawyers think so.

Up until now, Casey Anthony has not answered even one question in the defamation suit of Zenaida Gonzalez. And lawyers for Gonzalez have had enough. Gonzalez, a mother of six, accuses Anthony of slandering her when the 23-year-old mother said Zenaida was the alleged nanny who abducted her daughter, Caylee.

Yesterday a motion was filed by Gozales' lawyers to force Anthony to answer all of the questions in the deposition. When Anthony initially filled out the questionnaire, the only item she wrote on the document was her name. She failed to answer any of the 17 questions asserting her fifth amendment right to not incriminate herself. Anthony's lawyer, Jonathan Kasen, thinks his client should be able to continue to invoke the fifth in the ongoing civil suit. Kasem believes every question in the written deposition is "inextricably intertwined" with Anthony's first degree murder case.

Robin Sax, a former Los Angeles County Deputy District Attorney, agrees with Kasen. "Statements that are taken under oath at other hearings can be used against her" says Sax. Kasen and Jose Baez, Anthony's defense attorney, could be working in tandem, speculates Sax. Baez would certainly not want his client to answer questions like "Do you know who killed Caylee?" and "Were you involved in death of Caylee?"

Sax is surprised the Zenaida Gonzalez civil case has moved so quickly in the first place, "These things usually take years." But, says Sax, it's possible Gonzales' lawyer, John Morgan, has been bitten by the fame bug surrounding the highly publicized trial. "If he's the hero that gets her to answer the question which would essentially amount to a confession -- that's huge."

She could at least answer all but the last couple of questions. I don’t see where a lot of those questions have anything in them to incriminate her. The only thing it incriminates her for is lying…and we all know she is lying. Even if she didn’t kill Caylee, she is still lying about a lot of other stuff!!

They should not have asked the questions about Caylee that do not involve ZG directly. She should force to answer all of the blasted questions to be quite frank, just not by them. She really just needs to say what happend and stop fighting.

She should just answer questions about ZFG, as should others that are being deposed. Questions like the one they asked Lee “Who is Caylee’s Father?” do not have anything to do with the ‘Zanny the Nanny’

One has to wonder the strategy behind pleading the fifth to one very specific question: “Look at this picture of our client Zenaida Gonzalez and write down in black and white if this is (or not) the lady who babysat for you.” … While some may argue that “everybody” already knows that this isn’t the right ZFG, wouldn’t it be better to have Casey’s answer on a sworn document rather than just hear some wispy inconclusive sounds from her often-lying lips?

I think KC’s rights would be violated if she were forced to answer ANY incriminating questions. This will never happen!! It is her absolute right to invoke the 5th Amendment! I do feel that the civil case will be bolstered by the fact that given the opportunity to, once and for all, clear the Plaintiff ZG she chose to remain silent … thus continuing to cast shadow on this innocent woman.

I think the problem is that you cannot answer some questions and still leave others unanswered. She provided her name & nothing else. Baez isn’t sure what defense might work so he doesn’t want to tie her down to a specific lie yet. But as we all know, she already answered all these questions when she was questioned by LE. Granted, everything she told LE & her family was nothing by LIES but it will be fun when prosecutors throw her idiotic lies in her face at her murder trial.

I think that the main reason Jose doesn’t want her to answer these question is that he will bring it up to the Judge that there were (I think) 15 other ZFG in the phone book and yet they were not affected by Casey Anthony and the Sitter Story. The Defense will make it look like ZFG is just a lazy mother who wants a payout and was waiting to sue anyone. (Just saying there are some people who make a living out of suing others and hoping they settle out of court.) Until Sawgrass states under oath that Casey was in the office and saw the binder where future tenants were suppose to fill out personal info (which is dumb on Sawgrass Management to not have a more secure location for this type of info) then it will not stand in court. Were there security tapes that show Casey looking through the office at Sawgrass or was that also some of Lenny stretching the truth a bit? Lenny also said that Casey had to of seen ZFG’s car that day and that’s were all of this “nanny” talk started. But we all know Lenny isn’t always right in this case (ie:fingerprints & duct tape). Casey’s had her rights violated on more things than just this issue. Most of the photos surfacing and being talked about in the media have a clear message. The media has already convicted Casey. They were her judge and jury and given the chance I’m sure they would love to be the executioner as well. I will wait for Oct ’09 after the prosecution and defense have argued until they are both blue in the face.

YOu have the constitutional right to claim the 5th in this country. If she is forced to answer the questions, and I doubt a judge will make her, then the whole case is subject to be thrown out if it is appealed up the federal court ladder.

Because of this INANE question / discussion, I will no longer visit your website,nor will I ‘follow’ you and your site on twitter. Are you even serious defending this murderess of child ? This woman has manipulated the system through her lawyers and wasted ALL of our time and precious resources. She single-handedly DESTROYED Zenaida Gonzalez’s life. Destroyed it,, and you care for one second if her ‘rights’ are being violated. Guantanamo was rights violation.Your IQ is in question. Your site is a waste of my time.

I could care less if Casey Anthony’s rights are violated. She violated the rights of her toddler to live. She also violated the rights of Zenaida Gonzalez to live her life without someone asking her if she kidnapped and killed Caylee Anthony. I am suspicious of John Morgan, Zenaida’s attorney, because of the questions he asked Lee and the PI Hoover in the deposition. Most of the questions had more to do with the murder trial than the civil trial. He acts like he’s working for the prosecution.

Why does it seem to me the person accused of the crime has more rights than the victim? The “right” I have never understood is the accused never has to take the stand. Let’s hope that many in this trial are Caylee advocates

The 5th Amendment Right must be protected for everyone - forceing Casey to answer might set a precendence that undermines this Constitutional Right. If anyone should be sued in the Civil case it should be the TV Station/Media that bought THIS ZFG into the Public spotlight - they are responsible for damage to this woman.

Asking who the father of Caylee was has absolutely nothing to do with ZG. People are just curious. Casey has a right to claim the 5th but she should answer some of the questions. Pertaining to the nanny. The other questions are just a way to get her to say something that will help the prosecution.

This is the ONLY ZHG who had a connection with the Sawgrass Apartments that Caylee was supposedly dropped off at before the scene shifted to Blanchard Park. Most likely, Casey would have never used that name if she hadn’t seen it or was given info about it from the apartment application. She should be deposed and answer every question. Of course if she did, they would all be lies.

Leesah, thank you for bringing that up-I had forgotten that bit of info (this case is such a fiasco that it’s impossible to remember all the info!! I do not, however, think she should have to answer the questions simply because I feel it would undermine our 5th ammendment right also. I’m not saying that she’s innocent—the entire free world knows she’s guilty as sin, but I have faith in the prosecution and in GOD to see to it that she gets the punishment due her!!

Everyone knows that killer made the whole thing up. Waste of time. She would lie through the whole thing just as the rest of her family lies. Mother, father(?), brother. They are a real piece of work. Wow, the ethics taught in that family were BAD! As the old saying goes, the fruit doesn’t fall far from the tree. Yep! Could anyone suggest a blog on the OctoMom’s fertility Dr. That ghoul that took it upon himself to play around with God’s plan. I would like to know if he is being investigated for his crime. Thanks.
