Octomom's 911 Meltdown

In a 911 call made last year, Nadya Suleman appears to have had her hands full with six kids. How do you think she's going to do with 14?

Before Nadya Suleman was dubbed the "Octomom," she was just a mother of six -- and even that seemed too much for her. In a frantic 911 call obtained by, Suleman reports that her son JJ is missing. Throughout the five-minute call, Nadya is so distraught she says she's "going insane" and hollers that she's "going to kill herself!" In fact, she threatens suicide so many times that the 911 operator advises her to cool it and try to "hold it together" for her other kids. Turns out 5-year-old JJ had gone on a walk with the nanny and JJ's younger twin siblings. Whoops.

Listen to the call and tell us if you think the Octomom sounds like a mother who could handle raising 14 children.

Good grief. Give her a break. Have you ever lost one of your kids? Believe me, you do feel like you are insane.

I’ve had one child missing for over an hour. I’ve also had a child nearly drown. Both were experiences where no one was at fault, and yet, the thoughts that go through your head are crazy. Why she would she would say she would kill herself, I don’t know. I can understand the feeling, though.

And besides, she was five months pregnant with the octuplets, right? Wow, talk about a walking hormone bomb.

The movie “The Changeling” in which Angelina Jolie has scenes where she is frantically beseeching to get her lost son back opened on October 24. Trailers for the movie must have been all over the networks for days.

This 911 call came in on Oct 27.

Total coincidence, I am sure.

gala2- I’m really sure this mother staged all this to be just like Angelina Jolie… PLEASE! Get a frickin life and live this lady alone already.

I doubt she staged the whole thing, but it definitely sounds like her reaction to the situation could have been “influenced” by the movie.

Come on! Missing kid? Pregnancy hormones? That’s a mix that would make anyone act like that! This doesn’t change my opinion of whether or not she can care for all of those kids anyway. I already think she’s got too much on her plate, but I thought her reaction was pretty normal. I figured it was the same as my “I will never forgive myself” or “I will just die if something happens” thoughts when I lost my nephew. She just happened to say them out loud. Come to think of it, I might have said it out loud myself and just don’t remember ;)

Angela, the point being made is that this crazy woman, who is unable to manage 6 children is now going to be in charge of 14 children. As a parent, I am embarassed by her.

Same here- she is an embarrassment as a mother. No way I could keep up with more than 3, 4 or 5 much less 14.
Tsk. Tsk..

My point is that a person’s reaction to terror during a 911 call can in no way be used to judge whether she is or will be able to manage a certain number of children. This is not a logical arguement.

I definitively agree with Angela. We can’t use this 911 call to judge whether she is capable of raising 14 kids. Just leave her alone… there are more important things about the world that we should concern about, not some looney, who wishes to have lots of kids. Geez…

I ask, why are people continuing to go on about this person? The fact is, she has 14 children, this is not china where they would be forcibily taken and done away with, no one should have such hostile attitude towards her and her children. She has not been found guilty of abuse or neglect of any kind.

She says more than once that the last time she had seen her 5 year old was ONE HOUR before and that he had been playing in the FRONT YARD with his 7 year old brother. If I didn’t check on my kids for an HOUR and then found one of them missing I’d be suicidal too. That’s neglect.

This is getting a bit more subjective, but I much prefer the Zune Marketplace. The interface is colorful, has more flair, and some cool features like ‘Mixview’ that let you quickly see related albums, songs, or other users related to what you’re listening to. Clicking on one of those will center on that item, and another set of “neighbors” will come into view, allowing you to navigate around exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune “Social” is also great fun, letting you find others with shared tastes and becoming friends with them. You then can listen to a playlist created based on an amalgamation of what all your friends are listening to, which is also enjoyable. Those concerned with privacy will be relieved to know you can prevent the public from seeing your personal listening habits if you so choose.
