People: Learning that his daughter and Chris Brown have reconciled, Rihanna's father says he supports the singer in her decisions.

"Whatever road she chooses, I'm behind her," said Ronald Fenty, when reached by telephone on Barbados. Fenty took the reunion in stride Saturday, as he worked selling novelty items on a street corner in downtown Bridgetown. He says he hasn't spoken to his daughter since earlier this month, for her 21st birthday, and only found out about the reconciliation through the media.

"We are a family who stick together even though we are apart," he tells PEOPLE.

Rihanna and Brown have been in Miami Beach together, almost three weeks after Brown, 19, allegedly battered the "Umbrella" singer on Feb. 8, a source tells PEOPLE.

"While Chris is reflective and saddened about what happened, he is really happy to be with the woman he loves," the source says.

As for Rihanna, Fenty would only say, "She's a smart girl." When asked what he would tell Brown as a father, he demurred, "I have no comment on Chris Brown."

Of course he does! If she had a real man for a father who cared about her and loved her, she wouldn’t be in an abusive relationship in the first place! duh!

Why is everyone so against Chris. I must say this internet is awesome. People break up and get back together daily in the real world. (out side of media). Who’s to say the photo wasn’t doctored? God has the last say so..Not us poor people who judge others…ha ha..I hope they are happy..and if not..then yes move on…Niether of them have given the story..The rest is purely hear say and speculation…

It’s wrong to trash her father when you know nothing about him. Rihanna is a grown woman (even if she isn’t acting like one). She threw the first punches & should be charged IF Chris is. No guy should be a girl who loses her mind over a text msg. and no girl should be with a guy who hits. They are both immature & obviously need to grow up AND get anger mgt. counseling. It’s their relationship, not ours. As far as the police photo, I think it was photoshopped too to look worse since the Mexico photo 2 wks. later didn’t show any marks, bruises, or cuts & since Rhianna is very light, I doubt she’d have healed completely and that quickly. Also, being that light, it wouldn’t take much for a bruise to show. I hope they have both learned their lessons and the public needs to get a life & Jay-Z should be charged for threats and at 40 yrs. old should certainly know better. He’s a perfect example that age and money doesn’t equal having sense. Chris’s father should tell HIM to run from her since she seems like a drama queen who went too far. LADIES need to control themselves if for no more than their own safety.
