Sarah Palin for President

Ronda Kaysen: Bristol Palin's single mom status isn't the only news happening in the Palin household this week. Sarah Palin might be running for President.

Sarah Palin

A Connecticut group formed a "2012 Draft Sarah Committee," making themselves the first group in the country to register with election officials to raise money for Palin's campaign. The group says it's already raised $3,000 on behalf of the Alaskan Governor.

The committee set up a booth at CPAC, an annual convention for conservative activists, and response was "warm," committee chairman Paul Streitz told the National Review. "Hundreds of people came up, and only one said she wouldn't be supporting Sarah. We added about 300 people to our e-mail list, and already have a couple college organizers."

Palin hasn't officially said that she wants Obama's job, but the latest development should come as no surprise. Palin was campaigning for 2012 before the last election was over. "Draft Sarah Palin" websites flooded the blogosphere before John McCain could finish his concession speech.

Palin's been acting a lot like someone getting ready for another dance on the national stage. Greta van Susteren practically moved into her house after the election. And Palin made a bold move to the center when she appointed a woman who once served on the board of Planned Parenthood to the Alaska State Supreme Court, to the horror of her conservative base.

Conservatives in Connecticut might be fired up for 2012, but some pundits wonder if the sudden exit of Bristol's baby daddy will hurt Palin's chances. "Can I go out on a limb and say that having an unmarried daughter with a baby won't help Sarah Palin's chances for 2012?" wrote Dana Goldstein in the American Prospect. "I'd like to see how the 'family values' base justifies this one."

I'm going to go out on a limb of my own here and say I totally disagree with Goldstein. Bristol's unfortunate love life won't hurt her mom a bit. If nothing else, it'll make her more human and real. After all, she had a pretty realistic view of her daughter's situation during the Bristol Palin Fox interview last month.

Palin would run on CONSERVATIVE FAMILY VALUES. By all assessments there is nothing else TO run on.
This latest snafew is just letting people know what they already KNEW, but were not allowed to say because it would be so unfair to Palin (wretch!. IF there WAS to be a Palin-Johnston wedding, the baby would not have been born out of wedlock. They would have been married just as Palin SAID THEY WOULD. It would be done. Since it wasn´t done, I think the majority of people KNEW it wouldn´t ever be done. It was like waiting for the other shoe to drop, now it has…SURPRISE, SURPRISE they broke up!
