He says "Wife Swap" ruined his life.
After an appearance on "Wife Swap," Stephen Fowler is Public Enemy Number One. He has received death threats, his professional life is in shambles, and there is even a website called "StephenFowlerSucks.com."
On the show, Fowler came off as an elitist San Francisco snob. He was verbally abusive to the woman who lived with him for two weeks -- calling her uneducated, overweight, and a "dumb redneck."
Now America hates this father of two.
Unfortunately, a few of our friends are married to guys just like Stephen. But how do you tell someone her husband is a JERK? To find out, we asked clinical psychologist Dr. Sheila Forman.
Dr. Sheila's advice: The key is how and when you tell her. It is important here to stress to your friend your concern for her welfare and happiness. Invite your friend out for coffee, tea, or a stroll in the park. Tell her there is something very important you want to talk to her about. Let her know how much you care about her and how important she is to you. Then tell her that you have "noticed" something. Tell her that you "noticed" that her husband doesn't treat her very well and that concerns you. Ask her if she agrees with your assessment. Give examples, if possible.
Be sure to NOT husband bash. Don't call him names, etc. Just stick to your concern for her. Decide in advance what support you can provide her and then offer it. It maybe that you give her a book to read ("The Emotionally Abused Wife" by Beverly Engel is particularly good) or the phone number of a good psychologist. You might offer to go with her to the first appointment. Make sure your friend knows how serious this is and how serious you are and that you are there for her.
There is a caveat I must offer here: Sometime the truth hurts and your friend may not welcome your comments or believe them. That's okay. You were a good friend sharing your concern with her. If she can't hear it now, maybe she'll be able to hear it later.

As a native to the San Francisco Bay Area, I am deeply dissapointed and upset with this man’s behavior.
We aleady have a reputation of being elitist, and now this guy goes and shows America his snobby nature which will sadly be projected as the nature of our people…
What a jerk- he is ignorant and a horrible person.
It’s TV. The whole idea of the show is to show outrageous differences in people. I didn’t watch it but really who cares what one man in California thinks of anyone? Surely not me.
I have many more important things to be outraged over and really, devoting time to a website over this seems like a huge waste of time. So he’s a jerk? So what? Lots of people are.
Well the bottom line is, Fowler stated out loud what a bunch of San Francisco liberals think anyway…his error was revealing the ‘club’ secrets…i am sure this talk is commonplace at cocktail parties in SF. These people vote and that’s my problem. they are bigots, not in the traditional sense, but bigots nonetheless.

I can vouch that Fowler’s take on the world is shared by “many” San Francisco liberals … actually, San Francisco is almost entirely liberals, so I’m really talking about 95% of the city. These are the same people who make six-figures and vote for higher taxes in a city where a home that’s a major fixer in a so-so neighborhood starts at $500k, however, most of the city rents, which somewhat explains the socialism. In addition to saving us from the air, their big brain fart is to have a long wide red carpet leading from Mexico into the US. Once they’ve let in the 100 million impoverished people, you may then stop wondering how exactly your voting power inconsequential? Or why there will forever more be only one party in power in the US. Namely, the one that’s giving away “your” money.

Yes, I do think he is the biggest jerk…but let’s not limit him to just one continent! This man’s behavior proves that an expensive education doesn’t equal intelligence or manners. His lack of civility and kindness only highlights his total ignorance. Also, he is giving Brits a bad name. I’m willing to bet that he is so hated in his own country that he had to flee to another one! And that wife! I felt sorry for for her up until she declared that was not a proud American. There are countries that do not like America or it’s people….I suggest this family pack it up and move there!
