While vision boards might scare some guys, they seem to be catching on with single women.

And I'm one of them.

Arielle Ford, author of just-published "The Soulmate Secret," is a bit too perfect for me. But what she says about vision boards - and how they help you "manifest the love of your life" -- is spot on.

In short, Ford details nine steps help you find the man or woman of your dreams. These include healing the emotional wounds of the past, feeling hopeful, and believing that someone is out there for you.

If you're a list-maker like me, making a list is part of the plan. No matter what your stats about a future partner looks like, Ford says that the top two on your list are always the same.

You are looking for someone who:

1. Is available (no married men, thank you very much!)

2. Lives within a 50-mile radius of you (or, you need to willing to move anywhere in the world)

Ford's last step is creating a vision board. Sit down with magazine and cut out pictures that represent the life you want to create.

To bring in 2009, I made a vision board, to answer the question "What makes me happy?"

It's actually taped to the wall above my desk [that's the image here!] with images that represent love, passion, inspiration, good food, openness, hope, money, travel, calmness.

Amazingly, after a year-plus dating dry spell, I've had a number of amazing dates in the past month. Maybe there is something to this...
