Casey Anthony's Jail Visitation Rumors

sign up for the momlogic newsletter Tweet This

Once again, the news is reporting the Anthony family is planning a private memorial for Caylee which would include Casey.  Who keeps spreading these rumors?

According to a local Florida news station, a source close to the Casey Anthony's family said the "wheels are in motion for that meeting, so the family can mourn Caylee together for a short time." The same kind of rumor was making the rounds back in January. Back then, as it did today, the Orange County Jail issued a statement contradicting the rumor:

"The Orange County Corrections Department has received no requests and has no plans related to any 'in-person family visit' with Casey Marie Anthony. Our agency has no intention of providing any special treatment for inmate Anthony or any inmate in our custody."

Public Information Officer Allen Moore told momlogic: "Since 2003, there have been no face-to-face jailhouse visits -- excluding attorneys." Moore is quick to point out that since the jail switched to video visitation, the amount of illegal items passed to jail inmates has been cut in a half. The Orange County Jail facilitates 1,000 of these video visitations each month. Inmates are allowed three 45-minute visits a week. Most are not recorded -- but in Casey Anthony's case, they are, as requested by law enforcement.

According to Moore, Detective Yuri Melich from the Orange County Sheriff's Office made the original request for a standing order to record all of Casey's visits. "For Casey's visits," explains Moore, "all they do is put a trigger in the visitation software and it automatically records the visits."

Even though the visits would be recorded, the family could see Casey if they really wanted to quite easily. "They could call tonight and schedule a visit for tomorrow," says Moore.

Who do you think keeps spreading the private memorial rumors?

Ehm Momlogic is doing well spreading this rumour by posting it here. D’Oh

Thank goodness this private jail visit was only a rumor! Cindy claims that she merely wanted to be given a private visit with no cameras or microphones, in order to mourn the loss of Caylee with Casey.Come on! 4 months have passed since Caylee’s remains were found, why now? Clearly, the fact that Cindy is just days away from being questioned by Zenaida Gonzalez’s attorney has everything to do with “why now”.Cindy desparately wants to get her story straight with Casey. It’s a little late for damage control!Cindy still doesn’t understand the fact that the TRUTH never changes from the TRUTH! Lies never hold up because the facts and the TRUTH get in the way of them. If Cindy needs to mourn with Casey, she needs to take out a pen, a hankerchief, and write a letter to Casey to express her feelings and Casey should do the same for Cindy.

Why would Casey meet with them when she can’t even look their way when she goes to court? She won’t meet with them because if nothing else goes right for her she’s going to blame her family -

AS April 1, 2009, 9:29 AM

I think Leeza hit the nail on the head. Cindy wants to get her story straight with Casey. That’s the only logical reason Cindy would want an un-monitored, non-recorded visit. If Cindy’s intention really is to mourn with Casey, then let them get together after she is convicted and sentenced to jail. Based on Cindy’s mother’s comments, I doubt Casey wants to have anything to do with Cindy.

I think you mean January 09, not 08. Caylee was alive and well in January 08.

Marie April 1, 2009, 9:50 AM

Why should the Anthony family get a private visit? According to jail officials, there hasn’t been a private visit for anyone since 2003. What makes them so special?

Can you imagine the chaos that would follow if all the other inmates heard of her highness getting a “special” privilege?

And, its a fact that little Caylee has been dead since mid June. That’s almost a YEAR! Little late for a “family time to mourn”, isn’t it? Casey did all her private mourning the month she was “free” before her mother called police.

Ok, so she mourned in bars and parties and Walmart.. but hey.. who can say what is real “mourning”, right?

This trial can’t come soon enough. We have to be rid of this family and put that murdere where she belongs.

Could not have said it better myself.

I am more interested in the private meeting Baez is requesting with the judge to discuss a matter too sensitive for even the prosecutor to hear. He wants the judge’s permission to request information without telling the prosecution. This seems to be against the laws of discovery. What do MomLogic’s reporters know about that?

AS April 1, 2009, 11:05 AM

I believe the defenses request do not go against the laws of discovery. I think laws of discovery are for the benefit of the Defense only.

I believe the Prosecution has to share all the evidence against the accused with the Defense before trial but Defense does not. They can hold their cards close to their heart until the last minute and play them in open court.

Sally April 1, 2009, 11:15 AM

AS, I believe the laws of discovery apply to both the defense and prosecution. Both have to disclose what evidence they have before the trial. That way both sides have a chance to go over the evidence and depose any witnesses before the trial. The defense doesn’t have to disclose their legal strategy but they have to disclose any evidence and witnesses just like the prosecution.

I just read an article where Baez states “every deposition this week is a serious part of the case.” So, my guess is that Baez is going to try and prove her friends to be insignificant. Ms. Cruz because she sold her story to a tabloid. He can try this tactic all day long. Casey is still guilty. I see them blaming her friends or the meter reader, or nanny. But, remember Casey said it was the nanny who took her from the apartments, Oh no no Jay Blanchard Park. That right there is going to hurt the defense as well.

Sally April 1, 2009, 1:33 PM

Cindy is the one who wants a private meeting in jail. She wants to ask Casey what she should say on the witness stand. Heaven forbid they are responsible for sending their only daughter to prison for killing their granddaughter. There will be no jailhouse visit, private or otherwise. Cindy, Lee and George all know Casey is guilty and Casey knows they know. She can’t look them in the eye and pretend like Caylee is coming home. Also, she is still holding a grudge because Cindy and George loved Caylee like she was their child, they cremated Caylee and they had a public memorial for Caylee against her wishes.

Barbara April 1, 2009, 2:35 PM

Do the Anthony’s really want to visit Casey? In past visits, every question was about finding Caylee. So, what would they talk about? The weather? The family was dysfunctional before all this happened.

Sally April 1, 2009, 2:53 PM

I just read where the judge denied Baez his secret meeting. He wanted to meet with the judge to discuss a “sensitive” matter without the prosecutor and public. I think he is just trying to rattle the prosecutor and make everybody think he has some new evidence that will exonerate his client. If there was any evidence of Casey’s innocence, she wouldn’t be sitting in that tiny cell. He’d present it to the prosecutor and she’d be sprung free and out partying and whoring around, writing books about her false arrest and getting rich off of them. Baez does not have a defense so he is making a lot of noise. I’m tired of Baez and the Anthonys trying to manipulate the system.

sunshine April 1, 2009, 3:01 PM

Yes Sally. He is trying to rattle cages. I do wonder what the h*ll Baez is up to now with this sensitive matter???

radar April 1, 2009, 3:55 PM

Good one momlogic, if it’s just a rumor why report on it? Stirring up the pot a little aren’t you. I think momlogic answered her own question of “Who do you think keeps spreading the private memorial rumors?”

Helen B. April 1, 2009, 8:53 PM

You know what? It does not matter who keeps spreading the rumor. It just plain ain’t a gonna happen. No judge in the right mind would grant any such request for the defendant to have any special privileges in a case such as this. The jail does not do favors for princesses, they get the same plate of beans the degenerates get. Casey is no better than anyone else in the jail and it might just stir up a riot if special favors are granted to her, I might even agree with the other inmates. It is high time that Baez, the Anthonys and anyone else discontinues to ask for special favors. Casey is a criminal, she has no rights, she gave them up when she killed her child. She does not deserve private meetings, visits with family nor does she deserve privacy to do anything at all. If anything, she should be held in the middle of a hallway with bars on all four sides for the entire stay in the Graybar Motel! Bottom line, she needs to stop asking for favors whether she does it or Bozo Baez asks for her. If he wants her to have special treatment, let him take care of it from his pocket.

Helen B. April 1, 2009, 8:58 PM

Second thought is that Cindy wants to meet person to person with her murdering daughter to get the stories straight, well, they had time for that while she was out on bail the first time. If she were as she should have been all along, her daughter would not have been able to take things this far in the first place. I have said, and I stand by this, if it were my daughter I would have shaken the truth from her long ago.

Sally April 1, 2009, 10:08 PM

Jane Valez Mitchell asked her defense attorneys tonight if Baez could keep evidence and his strategy secret from the prosecution and he said no. He said Discovery Laws are reciprocal and call for both the defense and prosecution to reveal any evidence they have within a certain time frame. Baez wants to subpoena records without the prosecution or public knowing about it. The judge said there was no legal reason to meet with Baez without the prosecution and refused the meeting.

pollywood April 2, 2009, 9:33 AM

Hi Helen B.,
IMO Cindy and George do want to meet with Casey to get their stories straight before they are deposed in the Zenaida Gonzales case. They couldn’t do this while she was out on bail the first time because Caylee’s body had not been discovered. The defense then was that Caylee is still alive. Obviously, Casey’s defense, and George and Cindy’s stories must be changed now that the “Caylee is alive and living with her kidnappers” story will not work.
