Don't Give Up on Haleigh Cummings

She may not be in the news as often as other missing children, but Haleigh Cummings still needs our attention.

Much has happened in the news since February 9th. One thing, sadly, hasn't. A little girl named Haleigh Cummings has been missing -- last seen, allegedly by her father's girlfriend -- now wife -- Misty Cummings.

According to Lieutenant Johnny Greenwood of the Putman, Florida County Sheriffs Office, the disappearance of Haleigh is still being investigated in full force -- with the same amount of officers originally assigned to the case as there were from day one. But he admits the leads are drying up, saying tips are "trickling in at just one or two a day."

So far none of the leads have panned out and Greenwood would not comment on whether Haleigh's father Ronald Cummings and his new wife are a focus of the investigation. "We have not identified anyone as suspect but we've not ruled anyone out," says Greenwood.

The hope, says Greenwood, is that a tip will come in with just the right piece of the puzzle investigators have been looking for. "Someone knows something, somebody is going to slip up."

If finding Haleigh has eluded investigators, so has her story in the media. Finding new information on the Florida child is scant. "Of the hundreds of thousand children that go missing each year, probably four or five get significant national media attention," Ernie Allen, President of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, tells momlogic. "It's just another missing kid to the them unless the cases are dramatic and sensational."

Regardless of whether Haleigh makes an appearance on CNN's "Nancy Grace" or not, Greenwood is hopeful Haleigh will be found. "That's what makes these investigators work around the clock," explains Greenwood. "The hope that she is alive and we can bring her back home."

Something odd come back to mind when I heard the audio on this site. Misty’s first words were about the back door instead of imploring to 9-1-1 that ‘A CHILD IS MISSING’. I remember thinking the reference to the door being open was out of sequence when you should be frantic about a child being missing when this story first came to light. An explaination before the fact.

yeah! i agree with abigaele, i have been a babysitter and seventeen!! when playing hide and seek in the house with TEN year olds i could not find i would get frantic!! missing from the house entirely is different then assuming they may have gotten out! i am now convinced the babysitter/step mom was jealous of the little girl and probably killed her! very sad!! the MOTHER seriously must feel so trapped and lonely.

I am really glad you have posted this story. I have been wondering about Hayleigh lately. We turn on that joke Nancy Grace and all she wants to talk about is Tot Mom. She really needs to talk about the child that is still missing.

After being beaten over the head with the Caylee Anthony story for a year, I wondered why the media attention about this little girl’s case was so spotty. Were we so drained of emotion over Caylee that we don’t have anything left for this child?

She said that she did laundry (bedding). Can they do DNA to see if the child ever slept on her clean laundry or if she was gone before the laundry was dry or if the laudry was done to cover up a crime.

All the people involved in this little girls life sound like a bunch of losers. There is no telling what happened to her but you can bet it’s someone she knows. This was not random.

I am a mother of a 2 & 3 year old. I can not imagine waking up and finding one of them missing. I don’t understand how the little girl could be asleep in the same room with the girlfriend and come up missing. I wake up everytime one of mine makes a noise. I think the girlfriend had something to do with it.I can not see how or why that man married her.

I also have a gut feeling the girlfriend (now wife) is not telling the truth. How can a child be sleeping in the same bed, and/or the same room just vanish? Why would the door need to be held open with a brick, unless someone carried something out?!?! The woman on the phone was tryin to get info and the dad hangs up on her? This is ANOTHER strange case involving an innocent child!

You would thing Nancy Grace would let the little girl rest in peace.Nancy you may need these same people help one day. And No one is going to help you. Kids are kids mine yours or who evers.I sure hope If I needed Gale St.John she would be willing to come. But as its been said these other children dont make the ratings.What if it was one of yours?would it make the rating???????????????????

It’s so sad that Haleigh was being raised by a Dad whose life centered around drugs,thugs,sex and lies. Such a dark and depressing world for a child. Haleigh couldn’t “thrive,” she had to SURVIVE. Which it doesn’t look too hopeful,since Ronald and Misty continually change stories and are clearly hiding the truth (by the shady way they act). Yet, Misty and Ronald and their thug friends know what happened and the heat must be turned up until one cracks! Haleigh’s smile is so adorable!She will be found as long as no one gives up writing about her and pressing Ronald and Misty.Jail is a perfect place for them to be,until they open up!

I think they need to see how the dad is so worried ,yet he got married with the lil girl Misty who is lying ,he has something to with this i mean how do you get married i wouldnt even be able to eat or sleep,now he wants us to feel sorry for him for losing his job,come on police arrest them .

Looks like the Dad likes little girls since this isn’t the first underage girl he has been with. Didnt the real Mom get pregnant with Haleigh at like 16. THis guy is sick and Misty is dumbo. What happened to the relative that was there that also had a sex rap? I think they use and who knows who has been in that trailer with more trash.

I have to agree with Abigaele,Janice & Michelle. Listen to what Misty tells the operator. She doesn’t even know the weight or height of Haleigh, and tells her she was sleeping in middle with her. Later she says Haleigh was sleeping in her bed on floor. She sounds higher than a kite and keeps saying “huh, huh”. She also said she was washing the sheets. Her great grandmother said she had come over that night with the laundry and picked up the laundry and left. Who is telling the truth. Dad was cursing and whining and hung up the phone. What an act they put on, and so many lies right from the beginning. Misty will break if she was questioned by the right person. Didn’t even know what Haleigh had on to go to bed. First was pajamas then a pink tee shirt of which the officers found in the trailer. They called police after Ron got home from work, yet Misty said she found her missing around l0:00 - l0:30. I thought he worked till ll:00 so why did she wait to call police. She said door was always locked, and later said she had door open while doing laundry and could of left if open. FBI should really question both of them in separate rooms until one breaks. He sounded high, too. If they do drugs as their neighbors and other people say they do, it could have been either one of them. She said “our daughter” and she is only a 17 year old teenager herself and Haleigh was not her daughter. She didn’t even know her birthday and dad didn’t want to answer any questions either. I feel in my heart that both of them knows what happened the Haleigh, but in my heart I think Misty did something to her. I cannot understand why they have not arrested Misty as she has lied so much and that would be reason to arrest her. She would break if they did or they would be able to clear some of the lies she has told. Maybe she is covering for Ron. Neither of them seem sincere, nor do they act like concerned parents, which she isn’t. They should be questioned more and more and more. The little boy should be removed from the home, wherever they are living now.

Did they ever say when the last time Haleigh was seen by anyone other than Misty and her dad? I wonder if something happen, he went to work and then they planned that she would call him or he would come home and THEN they would call police. Either that or something happen while she was with Misty. There are too many things that dont sound right. One being where she was sleeping? How can you not know? He is so RUDE!!

Hello everyone. Yes, I’ve also been wondering about this little girl. She really isn’t getting all the attention that is needed, however I also know that the police are doing what they can with what they have. This is so sad. I myself am a mother of twins 13, son who will be 2 and one on the way. Am I crazy? No, not really but I am done. lol But back to a serious note….I could never harm my children or let anyone get close enough to hurt them. I’m a fanatic when it comes to locking up at night….I mean its an actual process. lol

Has anyone looked at the great grand mother the one that is so protective of Ron. This woman has a look of defiance on her face when she hears someone speak of the DCF coming out to the house maybe the little boy should be examined for old bone fractures xrays done to see if there is any abuse on him. The police needs to keep this case on television so people won’t forget.nancy grace needs to give the Anthonys a break. SARA

why was the little girl sleeping by herself and the little boy sleeping with Misty, that doesn’t make sense to me, and why were they not sleeping in their own bedrooms
