Judge Orders New Breastfeeding Schedule

UPI: A Canadian judge in Toronto has ruled a mother is using her breastfeeding schedule to restrict access to her 29-month-old daughter by her natural father.
Justice Alan Ingram said the father has shown every interest in being a good parent and had taken courses and quit his job to move closer to the child. However, Johne was limiting the time Cavannah could spend with his daughter because of her insistence the child be breastfed, the report said.
By law, a mother and father are equally entitled to custody of a child, and the judge said Johne needed to recognize that.
"Jen has been unwilling to give a timetable as to when the breastfeeding will end," the judge wrote in an eight-page ruling. "But now the time has come for Jen to have greater consideration for the relationship between the child and Carl. If she used a breast pump and provided the milk to Carl, he would be willing to give it to (the child)."
Johne's lawyer told the Globe her client is considering an appeal.

There is nothing wrong with a 29 month old nursing…period.
There may be nothing wrong with her still breastfeeding BUT there is something wrong with her using it as a way to interfere with the father visiting his own child. I agree with the judge wholeheartedly on this, the mother is being ridiculous.
It irritates me when a woman tries to keep a good man from being a father. Children need both parents. I have a 30 month old how about a sippy cup.
sounds like a loser couple to me
This pisses me off because the guy obviously wants to be a good, involved father. Some children have fathers that want nothing to do with them. All of the “good” she’s doing by breastfeeding will be undone if she fails to involve a good father in her child’s life.
There may be nothing wrong with breastfeeding a two-year-old, but there is something wrong with USING your child to get your way.

This child is 29 months old. Er - that’s 2 and a half, right? Why on EARTH is she still being breastfed? And please don’t tell me that it’s for “bonding” reasons. If she’s not bonded with the mother by now, it’s never going to happen. Absolutely ridiculous, selfish of the mother (unless she has other valid reasons for denying access to the dad - although I assume these would have been stated in court)and what a waste of public money. Bah.
