Associated Press: A suburban Dallas second-grader no longer has to tuck in her shirt, thanks to her mom's argument that the school policy violated her religious freedom.

Dyker Neyland had argued that the Irving public schools' dress code shouldn't apply to her 7-year-old daughter because of her Christian beliefs.

The board voted 6-1 in Neyland's favor this week, overturning decisions by the principal and district administrators who had said the child must tuck in her shirt at school.

According to The Dallas Morning News, Neyland said, "I don't want her behind showing."

Neyland cited a Bible verse, 1 Timothy 2:9, which requires "women to dress modestly, with decency."

Um, really. Lame. No wonder people think we’re freaks.

Wow! I didn’t think people still stressed about this thing anymore. I thought it went out of style when women got rights. LOL! No, but seriously, I respect everyone and thier religion, so if they like it, I love it.

HOWEVER….

I do believe children should dress modestly, but within reason. There are a lot of extremist out there on both sides. Parents who let thier kids dress like hoochies, and then those who make them dress like FLDS kids. Too far on either side is not good.

I experienced both sides. When I was young, my mom went through a period where she was VERY RELIGIOUS. We belonged to a church that didn’t allow me to wear shorts or pants AT ALL in any capacity. I had to wear a long skirt or dress at all times, regardless of the weather. I had to wear tennis shoes with my dress, not allowed to show toes, and told that nail polish was of the devil, and I would go to hell for wearing it…I was not allowed to cut my hair, bathing suits were not allowed for swimming and so on. I could go on and on for those interested.

But then, my mom became UNRELIGOUS and we went to the other extreme. I could wear whatever, whenever, and however. I remember having a pair of jeans so tight, that I could barely sit down. LOL!

Now that I am a mom, and I have a daughter. Our rules is going to be moderation and common sense…and I’m going to make SURE she realizes that her dress will not be a determining factor on where she will spend eternity.

someone sure is using god to get whatever she wants, god is not a weapon, if you believe in god, believe him, if you don’t, it’s your choice. Don’t be a hypocrite, just because someone isn’t modest doesn’t mean you have to push them to your tastes, its their choice, damn, where’s democracy?

SOOOOO… she thinks making such a big deal about will stop anyone from looking at her daughters “behind”? If anything she might as well plaster it on a billboard after this! And then people wonder why their kids are so screwed up.
