Would You Take Your Kid to THIS Parade?!

There's nothing like exposing your child to different cultures and experiences, but this is ridiculous ...

There's plenty to do: Buy a penis shaped-lollipop from a vendor or watch locals carve penises out of daikon (radish). And what outdoor "family" event would be without fun things for the kids to play on? The festival's main attraction for both adults and kids alike are the giant phallic-shaped seesaws that are supposed to bring good luck. Good luck trying to explain to kids why you don't have one of those in your backyard!
OK, maybe we're prudes, but would you bring your kid to a parade celebrating the phallus?

Oh. My. Word.
Yeah, I am way to conservative to even have words for this…yowzer!
Oh. My. God. Could you imagine the questions that would spark?

GOOD GOD, NO WAY IN HELL!
This is so wrong on so many levels!
Looks like fun. I think most people need to lighten up.
GOOD GRIEF FAR TOO RISQUE FOR THIS DELICATE ENGLISH ROSE
Sure, why not? I mean, if I grew up in Japan and had been going to this festival every year as a child, this would be the norm for me…so yes, I would go.
I’ll be the dissenter in this crowd. I would absolutely take my son to this. Exposing him to different cultures is hugely important to me. Especially the concept that what’s strange in one culture is completely normal in another.
It’s been going on since the 17th century, and the Japanese seem to be doing just fine. Clearly this is not a harmful event for children to attend.
Of course, I live in a city where nude bicyclists are a staple at the family-friendly Summer Solstice parade every year. So maybe I’m already desensitized. :)
This is a cultural festival, not a porno festival. It wouldn’t be harmful to your children if you raised them to be comfortable with the human anatomy and respectful of other cultures. Grow up, people. Thanks to above for being the voice of reason.
I completely agree with Candini and Martini Mom.
I’m with Martini Mom and Candini…well said.
Great post. Enjoyable and fun reading. I’ve just got one opinion to give about funny t-shirts.

HEEELLLLLOOOOO!!!!
