Accused killer Melissa Huckaby is now a suspect in an earlier child-drugging case.
There could be new evidence in the case against Melissa Huckaby, who's accused of kidnapping, raping and murdering 8-year-old Sandra Cantu. According to reports earlier this year, a 7-year-old Tracy, California girl went missing for four hours and was later returned to her family by the Sunday school teacher and mother. The little girl lived in the same mobile home park as Sandra Cantu.
According to the police report, when the child was returned, the family thought she seemed "groggy" and took her to the hospital where she tested positive for the sedative benzodiazepine, a powerful muscle relaxer. Huckaby was interviewed by law enforcement in connection to the January 17 incident, but no charges were filed.
It's just another piece of a puzzle being used to build a case against the 27-year-old for the murder of Cantu. The second grader's body was found in a suitcase tossed in an irrigation ditch on April 10. Although Sandra was laid to rest last week, there is now a motion to exhume the body for additional forensic testing.
