UPI: A 31-year-old woman in the British county of Kent says she suffered heart failure after giving birth to her son, who weighed nearly 14 pounds.
Natasha Dimelow said she was left fighting for her life 11 months ago when she gave birth to her 13-pound, 10-ounce son Dylan, The Daily Mail said Monday.
"Dylan was so big that my heart just couldn't cope with pumping for the two of us," said Dimelow, who has partially recovered from the harrowing birth. "But I wouldn't change a thing -- it is a small price to pay for being a mum at last."
Dimelow is estimated to be enjoying 40 percent of normal heart function nearly a year after the birth that initially left her with only 10 percent.
The proud mother told the Mail while tests before Dylan's birth indicated he would be a large child, her doctors were still shocked at the fact he ultimately weighed nearly double the average birth weight of 7 pounds, 8 ounces.
"He just looked enormous and when the scales read 13-pounds, 10-ounces none of us could believe it," she said of her child, who was delivered via emergency Caesarean section.
