Bristol Palin Helps Prevent Teen Pregnancy

Bristol Palin wants to make sure your teen daughter doesn't get knocked up like she did. Rock on, Bristol!

Like it or not, Bristol Palin became the poster child for teen pregnancy when she got pregnant during Sarah Palin's campaign.
Now the 18-year-old daughter of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has been appointed as a Teen Ambassador for The Candie's Foundation.
She said in a statement that she feels she could be a living example of the consequences of teen pregnancy, and that she would consider it an accomplishment if she can prevent even one girl from getting pregnant.
We commend Bristol Palin for taking steps to prevent girls from walking in her shoes.
What do you think of Bristol's new role?
Can she be the “poster child”?
Most teenagers I’ve known who got pregnant did not have the support from their families (both emotional and financial) or from their communities.
If she had come from a poorer, less famous family and from a different ethnic background she’s be considered just another statistic for people to stare at in the grocery store.
I’m glad she’s willing to talk about the decisions she made and inform her peers, but it should be recognized that she’s got it better than a lot of unwed teenage mothers.
In response to “m“‘s comment, she could be taking the route of, “This is how tough it is for ME, and I have all these advantages at hand. Can you imagine how tough it will be for those of you who don’t?” She’s already come out and said it’s so much harder than she ever thought it would be, and once again, this is from a girl from a wealthy, large family with plenty of support. Her admission of that alone has given me some respect for her, and the fact that she’s trying to parlay her situation into helping others is admirable.
The reason Bristol is able to have a good life after this bump in the road is not because of her family’s money, it’s not just the poor who kick their kids to the curb when they get pregnant. Btw I wouldn’t really consider them wealthy, middle class or upper middle class maybe but not wealthy. Her success in facing this challenge is because of the support she is getting from her family and also because she was raised to be able to rise up to face life’s challenges, not to cower and let life’s challenges break her down.
Good Afternoon!!! www.momlogic.com is one of the most excellent innovative websites of its kind. I take advantage of reading it every day. I will be back.

Good for Bristol! She has taken her once unfortunate circumstance and turned it into a blessing not only for her family but also for all the other young women her work will help. I applaud her for using her newly found ‘celebrity’ for good and I applaud Gov. Palin for raising a daughter who knows how live up to life’s challenges!!
