Bummer! Ty Murray is eliminated from DWTS.

OK, it's official. "Dancing with the Stars" has just lost its most magnetic and lovable contestant, or as the judges called him, "the most valuable player of Season 8." I was praying Ty could pull it out one more week to make it the BEST FINALS EVER, but alas, he leaves the ballroom with his head held high and a legion of loyal fans across America. How those fans will translate for a professional bull rider is anyone's guess, but let's just give collective thanks for the booty-shaking, lap-dancing ballroom stylings of Mr. Ty Murray. Go collect some dividends from your wife ... you will be missed.

As for the rest of them, it's a fairly predictable finals. You could have called these 3 in the finals from week one. If you are a dance purist, then it's a lock for a Melissa vs. Gilles finals. I gotta root for Melissa in that scenario, only because I hear that she has no agent or manager, so she'll keep at least 20% more of the prize money than any other finalist (what can I say, I'm a pragmatist) -- plus, Gilles's theatrical flair can be just a little too fromage for my taste.

If you see the show more as a popularity contest, watching celebrities running the gamut of public perception, then Shawn has a shot. She is peaking at just the right time with her impeccable Argentine Tango, and even though she still gives the most wooden reads of her tag lines, at least she's famous for winning a gold medal and not for being naked in movies or being dumped on national TV.

But truth be told, now that Ty is gone, who really cares? I can't root for any of them. My heart left the ballroom with Ty.
