High School Uproar over Revealing Yearbook Photo

A11News: Here are yearbook photos from Sickles High School in Tampa showing the young lady who went commando to school to avoid having panty lines show.

After the Sickles High School yearbooks were distributed Monday, students noticed that the pottery club photo offered a rather revealing glimpse of one 16-year old girl.

The young "lady" in the photo admits on camera that she didn't wear underwear that day, but says she didn't show herself like that on purpose, "Absolutely not. It is ridiculously embarrassing."

All of the administrators are trying to downplay it and saying I should really laugh it off and come back to school, but I've been humiliated," said the girl, who now says she won't return to school for the rest of the year.

And of course, her mother Jeanette wants the school to recall all the yearbooks and have them reprinted without the embarrassing photo at the school districts expense, all because her daughter didn't want her panty lines showing in a seated photo. Well, duh!

Oh, please, she was only trying to follow her role models, Britney, Paris, and Lindsay.

You know what, no one ever died of embarrassment. That young lady should be embarrassed; she showed poor judgment and look what happened. Her mother should have spoken to the principal directly and volunteered to “edit” the remaining yearbooks with a black marker. Then she should have marched her daughter back to school reminding her all the way that there are consequences to every action and that she’s the one who decided not to wear underwear and not to cross her legs. Sure, she might be forever known as the girl whose hoo-ha was flashed in the year book, but this too shall pass. After all, it’s not what happens to you that matters, it’s how you react to it. Put it in it’s proper place and rise above it. It’s not the end of the world.

If it was a sitting down picture, why was she worried about panty lines?

She chose NOT to wear underwear that day; she got what she deserved.

There are better ways to avoid panty lines than going panty-less. How about a thong? A slip? A less clingy dress?
The picture has been blurred out (and rightly so) but it seems like if her dress was a few inches longer - or if she’d pulled the hem down once she took a seat - this could have been avoided.

This is a perfect example of one person thinking the world revolves around them. Sorry, Bimbo … you lose!!

WHY didn’t she cross her legs like everyone else there? This may not be true, but don’t you have to change into P.E. clothes or something which requires you to go to the locker room and change? I feel sad for her, but every actions have consequences. She needs to know how to live with what she did!

This story is true. My daughter goes to Sickles HS, she knows this girl and we have the yearbook here. The picture could be interpreted either way, a shadow or her “private parts.” There’s been a great deal of speculation among students here, the most prevalent being; she went on tv for the attention. But there’s a small, lesser known issue at play———this girl pointed the picture out to many students at school last week. Most kids wouldn’t have noticed had she not done that AND disclosed, making a big deal out of the fact she was not wearing panties.

Secondly, the photographer instructed the girls in the front row with dresses on to either move to the back row, cross their legs or angle their bodies to avoid this very occurrence. Makes you wonder what Miss Commando was thinking….

Regardless of her reasons to announce that she hadn’t worn panties that day, her mother should have stopped her short——as a mother I wouldn’t allow my daughter to disclose that on national news (CNN etc). It’s sad because the yearbook staff worked hard all year on this Yearbook, most kids wouldn’t have noticed but now she’ll be remembered as the “crotch shot” girl for school reunions until the end of time. She’ll never get the Yearbook(s) back as most Seniors are now finished with school until graduation. Someone needs to explain there are consequences for one’s actions and the humiliation she brought on herself.

She’s a junior, what is she going to move away? I doubt it.

Give the girl a sharpie marker and let her color her “crotch shot” in and hopefully both Mother and daughter will learn from this and move on…

Wow dude wtf, shes stupid for doing this. she went on the news for fkn attention! she should of crossed her legs like everybody else! she got what she deserved, live with it hoe!

What’s the big deal? Her legs are closed.

Does anyone else think that the mom is handling this badly? I mean, get your 15 minutes of fame somewhere else. If they had shut their mouths and not gone to the local news, maybe it would’ve just faded away. Plus, HELLO, don’t admit you weren’t wearing panties. Say it’s a shadow and MOVE ON. How can you blame the kid when her role model obviously won’t?

This is a ridiculous piece of news. Wearing or not wearing panties should be entirely a private issue. This gal needs to learn how to wear a dress/skirt, panties or no panties.

I think it’s almost impossible this girl didn’t know there was a chance of exposure. Most of the girls and ladies I know are very aware of how they sit when they wear skirts and dresses (crossing their legs or keeping their legs very close together etc). One of the people posting here said the phographer involved asked girls with short dresses to move to the back. The girl in the photo didn’t move. The poster also said this girl pointed the picture out to some people at school. Here’s a scenario…The girl gets an idea to pull an attention getting prank for the end of the year but when her mom and other parents start finding out about it and obviously disapprove she gets scared and says she had no idea it was going to happen and that she’s embarrassed about it. Hmmmm
