The Pennsylvania Department of Labor said that it is looking into whether the hit reality show "Jon & Kate Plus 8" is complying with child labor laws, reports WGAL.
A Department of Labor official said a complaint had been made and that it is being investigated. The official would not say who made the complaint, but did point out that the agency must investigate any complaint that is filed.
Labor Department representative Justin Fleming told The Associated Press that the department is looking into a complaint against the show.

Of course they are! Kate is a narcissistic woman who shouldn’t be allowed within 100 yards of her own chidren. She will do anything for more power and more fame. As producers of the show they hardly have the best intersts of the children in mind and the courts should appoint a neutral advocate to look after the children. Thousands of us have been fighting for these kids at Gosselins Without Pity for two years, now. It’s a shame it took the rest of the country so long to wake up.

Absolutely ludicrous. The parents are doing the best they can to support their 8 children. The show and the parents do nothing to exploit them. I think everyone trying to do all that they can to break up this family, start rumors, smear their names… really need to take a look at themselves and leave them alone. We have no right to judge two parents trying to make a living and support all of their kids the best way they can. Just leave them alone.

Uh, no they’re NOT being exploited. They are filmed 6-8 hours, 2-3 times per week. And if the children don’t want to be filmed on a particular day, THEY AREN’T FILMED! Why else do you think the twins aren’t so present in the episodes? Cuz they say NO! People need to get over this crap, seriously. It’s just jealousy!

Oh give me a break. The kids are showed PLAYING AND HAVING FUN! Hardly working their tails off. The kids are doing fine, leave them alone. If people are so worried about the kids why won’t you keep your mouths quiet about the parents marital problems. Blowing it all over the media is worse for the kids than being video taped playing!

I think before they look in to Jon and Kate they also need to look into all the other shows with the kids on them. Like 18 and counting and so on

Of course they are! They are text book narcissists and so are all parents who make a living off of their children. Would she have this show and the added $$$ if she didn’t have them. They need to both get their own careers from their own abilities and skills. The family dynamic is so screwed up. These kids will be too if TLC doesn’t step in and act as an advocate for healthy children and stop enabling this spiral into complete and utter chaos.

These kids are far from being exploited. I enjoy watching the show they are a fun family. The media has started all this drama like they are known for. They always jump the gun before knowing the full and TRUE story. The parents arent hurting these kids its the media. Jon and Kate take very good care of all their kids and those that think other wise have a problem. What goes on behind the scenes is their own personal business and should remain their private business. What goes on when the filming takes place is for us to know about. Leave these poor people alone already and lets hope they can repair the damage the media has caused,.

I have stopped watching the show about a year ago. The way that Kate treated Jon was way too much for me.. If I were him I would have left her a long time ago. She is way over the top. Take one Halloween where the kids and Jon were craving pumpkins outside. Kate came along and stopped the fun. She HAD to clean up. The kids were having fun and so was Jon. That’s all have to say.

I think the kids are well taken care of. I enjoy seeing those adorable kids every week. Kate may have some OCD going on there and she’s a little too bossy but all people are different. I think the 18 and Counting should be looked into more than Jon and Kate. Isn’t 18 and counting a little ridiculous. Although these parents seem very caring too, I just feel 18+ is a little much!

Something that I think people need to take into account is the amount of money that is needed to care for 8 kids and 2 adults. The show allows them to give the children all types of experiences that they otherwise would not be able to afford to.

OF COURSE NOT! THESE KIDS ARE FILMED PLAYING AND DOING THE NATURAL THINGS SIBLINGS DO. SURE THEY SQUABBLE, FIGHT OVER TOYS, HAVE MELTDOWNS, ETC… BUT THEY’RE NOT WORKING OR BEING EXPLOITED…GIVE ME A BREAK. FOR THE MOST PART, THEY ARE JUST VERY NORMAL KIDS HAVING FUN AND, BY THE WAY, GETTING TO DO ALL KINDS OF NEAT TERRIFIC THINGS (THANKS TO THEIR TLC FAME) THAT THEY WOULD NOT HAVE GOTTEN TO EXPERIENCE OTHERWISE. We are arguing about J+K kids when there are several other shows (that feature children) that should be investigated: -18 Kids and Counting -Table of 12 -The New Octomom TV show (in the works) -Any child on the TV show ‘Intervention’ (their parents are terrible drug/alcohol/etc. addicts yet they aren’t investigated publically to humiliate them (like J&K are)) -Bobby Brown and Whitney Houston’s reality show featured their daughter; Bobby and Whitney are way more screwed up than J&K, where’s their investigation??? I could go on and on… its some high-horsed person who wanted to bring a lawsuite for their own fame and notority. **It was noted that Aunt Jodi and Husband were paid $30K for their 15 minute interview**. Maybe, since they don’t believe in exploiting, they should of done it for free…
