Will Carrie Prejean keep her Miss California title and crown? Donald Trump says YES.

miss california carrie prejean and donald trump

So much controversy has surrounded Miss California since the Miss USA pageant. First, her response to judge Perez Hilton over whether or not gay marriage should be legal is now legendary. Then the news surfaced that she got implants shortly before the pageant, and they were paid for by the pageant organization. Then topless photos of the beauty queen leaked. Her mom told momlogic she was being "persecuted."

Did she violate the conditions of her contract?

No, says Donald Trump. In a press conference, Miss USA contest owner Donald Trump said he thinks Prejean's controversial modeling shots are acceptable and fine, and that she will remain Miss California. He also commended Prejean for giving an honest answer to a tough question during the pageant.

What do you think of this decision?

you know, he kept saying “it’s the 21st century”….that still not an excuse. this woman is supposed to be someone girls look up to

yeah i love how she’s against gay marriage. she’s so self righteous. what a hypocrite!

I really don’t understand why this is such a big deal. It was an honest answer to the question, and a lot of Americans feel the same way about gay marriage. It is her personal belief, and she shouldn’t be faulted for it.

Good! She shouldn’t be canned. Its her right to say what she believes and NOT be judged for it. Her pictures were not nudes. And this was more about attacks against her for her beliefs. Since when does giving your opinion about your stance on marriage give someone the right to fire you?? Good for you Trump!

Even though Trump had the final decision BOTH of the pageant officials (Keith and Shanna) agreed to let her keep the crown. Obviously they are now on the same page since rumors and speculations have been flying around and they all had a chance to discuss all concerns. So if the California pageant officials are okay with her and want her back then there is no more problem. Move on. Besides, despite what I or anyone else believes…….I don’t think anyone should be harassed and bullied into silence because someone doesn’t like what they have to say. You and I know full well that this would never have happened if she never made that opinion. This was a witch hunt. If this was about lying on a contract then I would think those who are maliciously going after Carrie would be investigating ALL the other contestants too. I wouldn’t be surprised if a few skeletons didn’t peak their head out of some other contestants closet. If you hold one girl to a standard you should hold them all………….

While I don’t agree with her opinion that gay people should not be allowed to marry, I do feel that she does NOT deserves the terrible treatment that she has gotten from the media. It is a sad day in the USA when citizens feel that they cannot speak about their opinions FREELY and without being publicly ridiculed.

Why is it so sad that a public figure, making a public comment, on a public issue, is criticized publicly? She’s free to speak her opinion - other people are free to disagree with her.

The issue wasn’t that she spoke against gay marriage. The issue regarding her contract was one where her likeness, words, and the “Miss California” title were used for fundraising purposes by another organization.

Once again, she didn’t lose the crown because of her answer, it was the was she answered it.

She did break the agreement she signed.

She reportedly has not been cooperating with the state Miss USA officials and meeting all of her assignments.

She has dedicated all of her time to the NOW organization and has stopped all of her publicity and duties that she was given as Miss USA California.

At this point, it’s not about her answer to the question. It’s not even about gay marriage anymore. The only reason her title was even up for debate was because SHE stopped fulfilling her obligations and SHE lied about the photos.

Donald Trump is only keeping her around because it means more publicity for Miss USA. Really, in all fairness she shouldn’t have kept the title.

I am so glad that someone has come to their sense’s (Donald Trump). She has done nothing wrong, except to defend her belief’s.
Personally, I agree with her whole heartly, and as far as gay marriages go. If GOD had wanted all this gay crap in this world. He would have created ADAM and STEVE, not Adam and Eve.
Get real America, if we as American’s don’t change our ways were all headed for HELL!

It is one thing to publicly disagree or have an open discourse about a controversial topic but is an entirely different situation when people are publicly ridiculing and criticizing someone for their opinion in an attempt to silence the opposition. The reason these pictures came out is because people are attempting to counter Ms.CA’s opinions by bullying her into silence. This attitude of if I’m louder and meaner I must be right was started by left wing extremists when Bush was in office and now that our president is a democrat that noise and attempt to silence opposing opinions has spread from only the extremists to most people on the left and has gotten even louder and more brazen. And when we lose the ability to hear the other side and have an open public discussion about any topic then we begin to lose our freedoms and democracy that our country was founded on. So yes it is sad.

Great decision Mr. Trump… It’s too bad that in this United States, we are no longer intitled to our own opinion, without the witch hunt from the rabid hetrophobic. I have wonderful gay friends who believe that Miss California was intitled to her opion… you go girl!!!!

Rose Harrison May 12, 2009, 9:31 PM

I agree that Miss California should keep her crown. She gave her honest opinion and stood up for what she believes in. Rather than saying what she thought others wanted to hear she spoke her true belief. I applaud her for her honesty and integrity. Maybe if the judge asking the question would remember that God made Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve the judge would not have been so controversial when he did not get the answer he wanted. Good job Miss California, you should be wearing the Miss USA crown.

Christian May 12, 2009, 9:51 PM

How ironic that in the Miss USA contest, Perez Hilton thinks Miss California should lose her crown for exercising her 1st Amendment Right to Free Speech!

He wants tolerance, however his actions display NONE. Is that what you call a fair standard?

Indeed, 2 questions: 1. Given his sexual preferance, what possible qualification does he have to: A. Judge a beauty pageant; or B. women?

2. Given that he represent less than 2% of the population, with all the problems in the world, why did they waste valuable air time on TV with a stupid question like that?

Mr. Trump, next time hire some good judges for your show. It would be sad if most of your viewers voted by NOT watching, ie. Telling you that you are “Fired”.

HOPINJOHN May 12, 2009, 9:58 PM

I think that Donald was right right and right again for letting here keep her crown. Gay people should stop trying to bring down every thing they can not control, and they think will help their cause wherever that my be.
They keep messing with ever org that has free speech to say what they think but they don’t like the truth. Boy scout noted. A great org that has been persecuted because of it principles.
Gays are bad new in American and the rest of the world. and should be put in their place. No one wants them.

Margo May 12, 2009, 11:12 PM

Since when is it wrong to state how you feel? Or give an honest answer. That judge that asked that question about gay-marriages is sour grapes. He is nothing but a sore looser. Just because she didn’t say what HE wanted to hear. Wake up people this is America, we are suppose to be allowed to answer the way we feel. A marriage is between a man & a woman. Ask Obama - he feels the same way. How about that???????

Sandra May 12, 2009, 11:13 PM

Yes she should keep her crown, she gave a honest answer and there is a freedom of speech in this country. We cannot all believe the same way. I also think she has very high morals and I respect her for that.
