PiscesBlogger's Fake Baby Fooled Thousands
Thousands of people prayed for a blogger's unborn baby. And they cried when the infant died just hours after birth. But it turns out blogger Beccah Beushausen was never even pregnant, and the whole thing was a sham. Now she's got a lot of explaining to do.
Beccah Beushausen started a blog, saying that she was giving birth to a child diagnosed as terminally ill in the womb.
Here is a snapshot of her blog from June 2, courtesy of the Chicago Tribune.
Anti-abortion opponents followed her story religiously. They prayed for her. They sent her donations. They told others about her plight, and her blog.
When she blogged about giving birth and losing her baby on Sunday night, her website had nearly a million hits.
But when she posted a picture of herself with a swaddled-up doll, the jig was up. Many readers could tell it was a doll ... not a baby ... in the picture, and cried foul.
By Monday, followers demanded to know just who this hoaxer was. In a panic, Beccah deleted her website and Twitter and Facebook accounts.
It was too late, however. Someone found out her true identity: Beccah Beushausen.
"I know what I did was wrong," she told the Chicago Tribune. "I've been getting hate mail. I'm sorry because people were so emotionally involved. Soon I was getting 100,000 hits a week, and it just got out of hand. I didn't know how to stop.... One lie led to another."

what a nut job
I think it is very UGLY to lie about a baby dying. I also think it is horrible to lead people on and take their money.
However, a lie is a lie. I’m confused in seeing the crime, unless under oath. What makes this different from a person telling you a lie in the street? People are taken advantage of everyday by bums on the street who ask for a dollar so they can feed their starving child, then head straight to the liquor store with the money you gave them. I also cannot tell you how many times I have been ripped off by snake oil salesmen, who promise “the world” if I just buy their product, and I will be healed or rich. I hate it as much as the next person, but this is the good ole U.S. of A, and buyer or donator beware.
“Anti-abortion opponents followed her story religiously.” Wait, what? Anti-abortion opponents. So that means they’re pro-abortion. Why wouldn’t they just say to abort?
Check your writing, momlogic!! The double negative isn’t working.
Oh my word, crazy! Sad, too - it makes you kind of leery of everyone and I know there are some genuinely hurting people out there who REALLY need support.
There must be some way we can check and make sure the person and situation is real?

So Anti -Abortion means they are against it.. but the word Anti can have so many meanings so just take it as that..

First of all, they reported that the baby died hours later - not the case… Beccah had everyone believing that April Rose was still alive the next morning - she even posted it at 6:05am on June 8. Then all of a sudden her blog is down because the father “D” thought it was best after people were painting an ugly picture of their girl.
At this point people were already calling her out (as a matter of fact she was called out before that). She raced to take down her Myspace, Facebook, Twitter accounts and her See Through Me Studios website - she was an artist. She also sold art through a website called Wall Blank at one point. Beccah was not a social worker… she is a pathological liar who is in need of serious help.

The Chicago Tribune article is mostly lies. Beccah never gave birth to a son in 2005, she had a miscarriage. Her father was not present during the interview, nor did she say she was planning to write a final blog. She was also never a social worker. This writer twisted many things that Beccah said. And I assure you that he has no access to a computer or the internet. — this is a direct quote from a trusted inside source.
Your article could have been much better about this crazy woman, but that is just my opinion.
Why is everyone nit picking the article? If she made up a pregnancy to scam people out of money it’s wrong no matter how you spin or who wrote about it. End of story.
I just heard about this story today. Obviously this woman is seriously mentally ill and needs help.

I do feel duped b/c I was that mom. I lost that baby with HPE. I feel pissed. My daughter really did have Holoprocensephaly, my baby really did die after only a few hours. She makes me so angry. I felt sorry for her. I emailed her. I reached out to her and for nothing.
No because I don’t believe much of anything I find on the net till I can make sure to double check that it is true! However I still believe what she did was very wrong. In fact it makes me sick! How dare she take advantage of people who care, but then that whats wrong our world today. There are just to many people who are bad seeds. To many people who just don’t care about how what they do effects others in ways they cant imagine. Lastly there are to many people taking things on the net and TV as fact with out prof! I do not donate money to causes that are over the phone, on TV or on the net. I only donate my time and money to causes I believe in. That have honest real live people to deal with! In that way I’ve saved myself from feeling duped!
Hey Laura, I think we all know what ‘ANTI’ means. What anonymous was pointing out, was the word ‘OPPONENT’ after anti-abortion, thus the double negative. An anti-abortion opponent would be ‘pro-abortion’. N’est-ce Pas?
