A plea deal has been struck between prosecutors and pop star Chris Brown.
Judge Patricia Schnegg issued a stay-away order restricting Brown's contact with Rihanna, who was also in court today. The order requires that Brown and Rihanna stay at least 50 yards from each other, except at industry events, where the distance is reduced to 10 yards. The judge advised Rihanna that the order also means she's to stay away from him as well. Brown will be formally sentenced on August 5.
Brown spoke softly throughout the hearing as he waived his rights and told the judge he understood the gravity of his plea. "I think it's commendable you took responsibility for your conduct," Schnegg told Brown, adding that she hoped "the terms and conditions of your probation will have some meaning."
Do you think Chris Brown's punishment fits the crime?

If he wasn’t a celebrity he wouldn’t of gotten this. It get’s so annoying how celebritys get the easier deals.

I honestly think that his punishment is probably what others who have been in similar circumstances have gotten. In this day and age when you read about child molesters and rapists only spending 1 to 5yrs in jail I’m not surprised by him getting probation only.

i agree with Kristen. Im not surprised and its NOT uncommon for the abuser to “get off easy” their first time around. But obviously celebrity plays a factor as well! It would be naive to think that money doesnt buy a better defense!

This sickens me…I dealt with domestic violence as a child and this just makes my stomach turn. Rihanna is no better. She is sad about the restraining order. WHAT? Are you effin kidding me? She needs to be a role model for young girls and let them know this behavior is unacceptable. Sickening. Chris Brown is a piece of trash.

Remember NFL player Stalsworth got a mere 30 days in jail, 5 years probation and community service for running over and killing a man while he (Stalsworth) was drunk driving. 30 days for killing a man. No time for brutual beating someone. Both plea deals. If it was any regualr Joe or Jane …
