Sad news ... Farrah Fawcett died today at St. John's Health Center in Los Angeles after a courageous and lengthy battle with anal cancer. She was 62. Longtime love Ryan O'Neal and best friend Alana Stewart were by her side. Her son Redmond, who is serving time for drug offenses, was not.

Farrah Fawcett

The "Charlie's Angels" icon was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on February 2, 1947 and attended the University of Texas at Austin.

Her first break on the small screen came in the late 1960s, when she appeared in commercials. She went on to guest star on such classic TV shows such as "I Dream of Jeannie," "The Flying Nun" and "The Partridge Family." She also appeared on several episodes of "The Six Million Dollar Man," starring husband Lee Majors. The couple married in 1973 but separated in 1979, divorcing in 1982.

Afterwards, Farrah began an on-and-off relationship with O'Neal, and the pair had Redmond in 1985.

O'Neal issued a statement saying, "After a long and brave battle with cancer, our beloved Farrah has passed away. Although this is an extremely difficult time for her family and friends, we take comfort in the beautiful times that we shared with Farrah over the years and the knowledge that her life brought joy to so many people around the world."

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations to support cancer research be made to The Farrah Fawcett Foundation c/o P.O. Box 6478, Beverly Hills, CA 90212.

Our thoughts are with her family.

Rest in Peace our special “Texas Angel”. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends. We will miss you. What courage and strength she had during her long battle. She is now a peace and no longer in pain. God Bless you Farrah.

I had your poster on my bedroom wall as a boy. I loved your spunk girl. You rocked in “Burning Bed”, fine work. Always admired the way you handled that diease. You were stronger than it but, you did’nt have to shout about it either. Both grace and dignity were yours. The world is a little less bright with your passing, save me a seat, I’ll meet you there.

Mike, are you kidding me?
Yeah, Farrah died and the first thing she’s doing is going to to read your random post.

btw, she picked a bad day to boot it, the only kid she left in her wake was a druggie fuckup, didn’t you hear, MJ DIED?!?!? he left 3 innocent angels.

rah June 28, 2009, 12:29 PM

whoever abbi is… YOU’RE THE LOSER -dont compare someone like Farrah to MJ or even mention them in the same breath. His innocent angels are better off, along with many other innocent angels … obviously you are deluded by hype.

For Farrah (Fawcett)

A great beauty has passed from this life.
Of good times and sometimes toil and strife.
Some will say that she went to a better place.
Look at the blue sky or a white cloud.
You will still see her face.

Movements like those of a gazelle in flight.
Hair that shone like gold on a moonlit night.
Eyes that could touch your soul.
And essence like that of a red rose.

Farrah, you fought hard to stay here on earth with us.
But when God calls you, go you must.
Whenever we feel a summer breeze or april rain.
It will seem like you are near.
And in our hearts, your memory will always remain dear.

Don’t you recognize that it’s correct time to receive the loans, which would make you dreams real.
