Each time I see Mehmet, Scout, and Bill hold Tori's kids or prance her down a red carpet, pangs of envy eat at my innards.
Vivian Manning-Schaffel: As some of you may know, I've developed a serious jones for "Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood." And one of the main reasons I feel I can relate to her is that she's got a healthy stable of valiant "Guncs" (gay uncles) in her corner. And thanks to Dean's work and bouts of douchetastic behavior, her beautiful gay-boy mafia never fails to swoop in and rush to her aid in times of stress and codependence.

So, I fend for myself and count my blessings. When we are fortunate enough to get to hang out, my kids have a few incredibly wonderful Guncs who represent at births, birthday parties, and the occasional full-fam visit. They are a huge blessing to have in our lives, and not just because we laugh until we cry and they truly enjoy catapulting Matchbox cars into my kitchen. Through our friendship, my kids witness the value of true platonic friendship between men and women, and don't know to make judgments based on gender. And they'll know that they can love whomever they damn well want to love with tons of support for their choices, both gay and straight.
