American school lunches, like airline food, are generally not considered haute cuisine. From fish sticks to corn dogs, our schools serve up mediocre mid-afternoon meals at best. But how do our academic menus measure up with the rest of the world?

Some of those lunches look great! I live in the U.S. I like my younger daughter’s school’s spaghetti. I love the chicken and dressing at my older daughter’s school. The cooks there also make a delicious meatloaf. My younger girl gets a better bargain at her public school ($1.25 including drink) but older girl has many more choices. Too bad she can spend up to $5 a day if she is very hungry. I can save a dollar a day by sending a bottle of water with her, but I like for her to have many choices of different salads, veggies, & fruits.
