KITV: Honolulu police are investigating the death of a 4-year-old boy who was found in the trunk of a car in Ewa Beach.

It happened on Ibis Avenue at about 2:30 p.m.

Officials did not say how the boy got into the trunk of the vehicle. He appears to have been in the trunk for up to an hour, a Honolulu Fire Department representative said. Family members found the boy and performed CPR until fire and emergency medical crews arrived, authorities said.

Paramedics treated the child and took him to Hawaii Medical Center West in critical condition, where he was later pronounced dead.
