One Year Later: The Tragic Story of Caylee

Today marks the anniversary of the day Caylee Anthony was first reported missing by her grandmother. One year later, her mother, Casey, sits in jail charged with the little girl's murder, and many questions still go unanswered.

It has been a case that's stunned the nation. A little girl goes missing and her mother doesn't report it until one month after her alleged disappearance. The last time little Caylee Anthony was seen was in a home video -- heartbreaking footage of the toddler visiting her great-grandfather on Father's Day. Her mother, Casey, 23 years old and a regular on the party scene, was from the beginning a suspect in the toddler's disappearance. One month later, on July 15th, 2008, Casey's mother, Cindy, was the first to alert authorities that her beloved granddaughter was missing.

Listen to Cindy Anthony's frantic 911 call:

The search for Caylee was on, and thousands volunteered to help find her. Casey's contribution to find the girl was far less helpful. The single mother led investigators on a wild goose chase searching for a nanny named Zenaida Gonzalez, who Anthony claimed had kidnapped Caylee -- a woman investigators say never existed.

As the terrible story began to unfold, the evidence implicating Anthony began to mount. The reported smell of human decomposition in Casey's car, the searches for chloroform and neck breaking found on her computer, and her flagrant disregard for the whereabouts of her child -- even going so far as getting a tattoo with the words "Bella Vida" (The Good Life) during the month she claimed to be frantically searching for her daughter.

Tragically, the remains of the little girl, forever two years old, were found a quarter mile from Casey Anthony's residence. At her public memorial on February 10, thousands came to mourn the darling little girl they'd never even met.

Anthony's trial has been postponed several times, and currently there is no set date.

With all of the media attention this case has received in the last year, do you think Casey Anthony can get a fair trial?

Rather than bringing race into it, let’s talk about the spoiled “ME-GENERATION” brats that Casey falls into. Casey is all about Casey. There have never been consequences for her bad behaviors. Mom & Dad have bailed her out of everything. Nothing is her fault. Anyone out there who feels that their child can do no wrong…. one day, you too will end up in a court of law having to watch someone (a judge) inflict punishment for a much more serious crime your child committed, when what you should have done is to have taught them right from wrong when they first emerged in life.

I agree with “stay-over-there” this generation feels some sort of entitlment, like things should just be handed to them.Instead of teaching thier children responsibilty they’ve had everything handed them.

L DON.T THINK THE PARENTS SHOULD BE REPONSABLE FOR THE ACTIONS OF THE CHILD.L HAVE A CHILD LIKE CASEYS AND L HAVE DONE EVERYTHING L CAN TO MAKE HIM ACCOUNTABLE FOR IS ACTIONS.BLAMING THE PARENTS IS JUST NOT FAIR IT.S NOT TRUE IN ALL CASES.L FELL SORRY FOR HER PARENTS SHE MUST HAVE BEEN HARD TO HANDLE

In this case it is obvious these parents have horribly spoiled Casey, and they are very intimidated by her. They were “ordered” by her in those prison visits.to not question her..she has the combination of being spoiled and a heartless sociopath. Since the parents are not accepting the obvious, they take out their anger and frustration on prosecutors and police, or anyone else who dares to question Queen Casey.

No matter how long Casey’s “dream team” delays her trial..it won’t work..I will NEVER FORGET CAYLEE, EVER!!!!!!
What’s important, is that selfish b——
sit right where she is, as her youth and so called good looks fade away….alone.

There is no substitute for love! Spoiling someone and loving them are two very different things. Casey may have been spoiled with the goods her hard-working Mom could, and would provide. But I doubt that critical Mommy succeeded in loving her. If she had, Casey would not have had such trouble dealing rationally with seeing her baby get the attention and love she herself had missed out on.

It’s been mishandled from the beginning. Just like some others we have followed in the past 15 years.I would not be suprised to see her playing golf with O.J. in the future.
