Fox News: Police say a Louisiana infant's body was covered with what appeared to be more than 100 small animal bites, perhaps some from rats, when she was found dead in her crib.

A Jefferson Parish coroner's office investigator says an autopsy did not immediately determine the cause of 3-month-old Natalie Hill's death.

Westwego Police Chief Dwayne Munch says the girl's father was in the front yard of the family's suburban New Orleans home Thursday shouting that his baby was dead.

Munch says the girl had severe wounds on her nose and leg along with dozens of suspected rat bites. He says investigators haven't determined whether she died before or after those injuries.

He says bloody animal footprints were in the crib and that her parents had traps out for rodents.

OMG!! How could rats sit in your child’s crib and bite her death without your knowledge?? This is disgusting. People are disgusting. Poor baby.

That poor baby..what a horrific way to die, I just don’t understand. She is at peace now, and may Jesus hold her in his arms and keep her safe. Rest in peace sweet baby.

This article was on cnn.com yesterday. In that article it said that the house was cluttered, not dirty —- but, there were several open holes in the walls or floors..and that the mom checked on the baby at like 2am and she as fine and then she checked again when she discovered this situation…. And the neighbors said the mom took good care of the kids…so, who knows?….I’m assuming there was no monitor….bless them.

littlepeapie you are so right, we cant judge these people sadly rodents are becoming a real big problem and even the cleanest of homes can have them…a baby is vulnerable to this nasty creatures…but im surprised that the baby didn’t cry out…my hearts with this family and i hope they can find peace

I don’t see why rats would just climb up and start chewing on a baby. They’re scavengers, not predators. At least as far as I know, whatever happened, it was a horrible way to die. Maybe it was SIDS and the rats came after. That would almost be better than the baby having suffered like that.

If you have that many rats why wouldn’t you let the baby sleep with you?
