Parents Blame 8-Year-Old Girl for Her Own Sexual Assault

Phoenix police on Wednesday announced that they arrested four neighborhood boys in connection with the incident, in which investigators said the group lured the girl into the shed with chewing gum, held her down and sexually assaulted her.
Phoenix police Sgt. Andy Hill, a longtime public-information officer, described the case as "one of the worst crimes we have come across in Phoenix in quite some time," given the ages of the victim and the suspects, as well as the circumstances of the reported attack.
The girl and the four suspects are refugees from the war-torn West African country of Liberia, which, according to investigators, would complicate authenticating names and dates of birth.
Arizona Child Protective Services took custody of the girl after the July 16 incident at the apartment complex after her parents disowned her.
Hill said the parents blamed her for being victimized and bringing shame to the family.
CPS and the families could not be reached for comment.
Phoenix investigators are requesting that the oldest suspect, age 14, be prosecuted as an adult.
He and the three others - ages 9, 10 and 13 - were taken to a Maricopa County juvenile-detention center late Tuesday on charges of sexual assault. Three of the four boys also could be charged with kidnapping, according to police.
Each of the suspects admitted to the assault, according to investigators. Hill said three of the boys lived with their families at the complex.
He added that they "took turns" in the attack, the shed door opening as different boys entered.
Police said the victim knew her attackers, but they are unclear on how long the families lived in the complex or how long it had been since they fled Liberia.

How does the article have anything to do with the girls parents let alone the claim that they blamed her. I can’t say I’m suprised if its true saddened by it obviously but many cultures parents still blame a girl victim even when proven she did nothing wrong or could have prevented it. I know of several in the past year of girls or women being disowned by family for being raped or accused of just talking to men. Many people from other countries especailly muslims come here hating america and what it stands for & our freedoms yet still they come go figure.
Appalling.
Poor baby girl. I hope she gets adopted by a loving family and those little monsters are punished severely for what they did to her.
they should all be prosecuted as adults and hanged
I’m sick to my stomach.
Poor girl… as if they attack wasn’t bad enough in itself. Now she lost her family and no doubt feels shamed since that is how they are treating her. Poor girl.
Using the word “hanged” when referring to black kids is a poor choice of words…
However, I feel for the little girl. Not only was she assaulted, she lost her family and probably blames herself for what happened to her. And feel sorry for the boys b/c it seems they come from a place where this was acceptable for a very long time and now their lives are ruined b/c of false teachings. I’m praying for the little girl that she grows up strong in a loving home.
Personally I think her parents should be deported to the backward country they come from and the little girl adopted by a decent family. To Hades with her parents and others who support thier position. If you want to come to a civilize country, adopt civilized views.
Victimized twice, being a parent is through good times and bad. Most children are trusting, and to have this happen wasn’t asked for. To have the people that are supposed to love you and protect you, turn their backs is just crazy. Bless her little soul

All of these families should be deported. The girls should recieve therapy and a chance at adoption with a loving family here in the USA.
