Beer for Kids?!

filed under: weird & fun logic

Ever worry that your kiddos will feel left out during a celebratory toast? Well, apparently the people in Japan do!

That's why they made "Kodomo no nomimono" -- a kids' beverage that looks an awful lot like something straight out of "Cheers." Before you panic, it's non-alcoholic and tastes supersweet. But, fill a tall glass with it, and the amber brown color and frothy foam mimics the real thing. There's just something not right about little Timmy kicking back a cold one.

Do you think this sends kids the wrong message, or is this nothing more than our version of sparkling apple cider? You decide.

This is just another reason why Japan differs from us greatly. They probably didn’t think ‘this may send the wrong message to the youth’ because not as many things are taboo in Japan. Some company just thought kids would like to pretend like they’re grown ups and drink fake beer. Its just like those candy cigarettes we had when we were growing up. I loved them when I was a kid and I don’t smoke now, so I don’t think this product is the beginning of a drunken child-nation in the far east.
