WVFF: Customers Find Children Crying In Locked Truck At 12:30 A.M.
After the children were freed from the vehicle, the couple told deputies they were the children's parents.
The call came in about 1:42 a.m. reporting two children crying from a locked pickup truck parked outside Club Acapulco on Fairforest Road, according to a release from sheriff's office representative Tony Ivey.
Officers found the children, ages 5 and 3, when they arrived.
After freeing the children, deputies located the parents, who were near the car after coming out from inside the nightclub, Ivey said.
Both parents were extremely intoxicated and could not tell the deputies how long they had left the children inside the truck.
Customers who left the nightclub Saturday at 11:30 p.m. told deputies they saw the children locked in the truck at that time. When the customers returned at 12:45 a.m., the children were still in the car, deputies said.
Andino and Lopez were taken to the Spartanburg County Detention Center, where they later were released after posting a bond of $2,000 each.
The two children were taken into emergency protective custody by the Department of Social Services and taken to the local children's shelter.
