No Shoes, No Service! Burger King 86s Baby

The baby can't even walk yet, but she's already been kicked out of a fast food restaurant for not wearing shoes.

"No shoes, no shirt, no service!" That's what the mother of 6-month-old Kaylin Frederich was told by the manager of her local St. Louis, Missouri, Burger King when she tried to order a Whopper.

Local FOX affiliate KTVI reports that Kaylin, her mom, Jennifer, and Jennifer's mother were booted from the restaurant due to "health concerns." The infant, Jennifer says, is too young to even crawl, and her feet are too small for shoes. "Everybody loves baby feet!" she said.

She says when she was standing at the counter ordering, the manager told her, "You can order 'to go' but you're going to have to leave if she doesn't have shoes on.' He said, 'It's against health code.'"

Jennifer said she was with her church youth group on their way to a concert. Her mother went into the establishment first; then she followed with the rest of the group. "The guy was still saying, 'That lady is still here with that baby without shoes,'" Jennifer said. "I just looked at him and I said, 'That's my daughter. She doesn't own shoes. She's only 6 months old' ... she doesn't walk. She's not touching the ground. So there's no reason for her to have shoes on!"

Kaylin's mom said she put socks on the baby's feet to try to comply with the manager's request, but the manager threatened to call the police, so the group ate hurriedly and left. Jennifer says she posted her story on Facebook and had dozens of responses.

Burger King issued a statement saying they were "retraining" its franchisees on the "no shoes, no service" policy.

I don’t know what you guys are talking about. Ben’s post really cleared things up for me.

And alongf those same idiotic lines, a friend of mine went into our local McDonald’s and as they approached the order counter, a woman who had been up on a stool cleaning the grease/dust from a lighting fixture got down to take their order. When my friend commented, “Please don’t handle my food with those same gloves”, the employee replied, “I’m supposed to wear gloves”… and after arguing with my friend that the store’s policy was to “wear gloves” but somehow not understanding that my friend just didn’t want her to use the SAME gloves she had been cleaning with, my friend walked out without ordering anything.

I think that if the people serving food are that dumb, I don’t want them handling my food!

If I was Jennifer, I would have waited for the police to come to see what they have to say. The manager must have been on crack or something. And if they are trying to be “technical”, then technically they aren’t serving anything to the baby so it doesn’t matter if all the baby has on was diaper. Jeeze, how do such people become manager when they can’t even manage their senses.

I have a 4 month old son and just like little Kaylin, he doesn’t have shoes because he doesn’t walk yet and his feet do not touch the ground. If I was Jennifer I would have waited for the police to come because I doubt the would have made you leave. I have been into plenty of stores that have the no shoes no shirt policy and no one has approached because my son wasn’t wearing shoes. I think the policy is so that adults don’t come in off the street without shoes & shirts on, not for someone to pick on an infant.

RE: Ben Ross, it absolutely is not a law. Businesses have these rules in place for customer safety, and to prevent other customers possibly becoming offended by odor, artwork etc.

Ben Ross, “No shirts, No Shoes, No Service” is not a law anywhere. The no shoes policy is a common practice put in place by businesses for safety purposes (i.e. foreign objects on the floor that could cut some ones foot). The manager in this case certainly lacked any form of common sense.

I doubt Ben Ross goes out into the real world. He is probably one of those people that sits on his couch with a remote control in one hand and a drool bucket in the other. He really needs to put down the cat food and get back on his meds.

So since it’s the law I should go stand on main street butt naked, in the rain, and shower? Ummmmm…..NOT in this lifetime thank you! I will not go to Burger King anymore. They do a lot of things that are illegal and if a baby not wearing shoes has them worried then we have a problem. If you don’t understand this mom then you are not a parent. And FYI it’s not illegal to keep milk past the experation date, it’s just unhealthy. MORON.
