Sleepless in the Suburbs

My husband is out of town this week with my kids, and I can't sleep a wink.

Momlogic's Julie: I am not sure why this happens ... but when my husband is out of town, I become a terrified, helpless woman who is scared out of her wits.

Anytime I hear a car, I SWEAR it is a burglar coming to murder me. (However, I live in a safe neighborhood and our house has never been burglarized in its entire history, as far as I know.)

I fall asleep with all the lights on and TV on, and can never fall into a restful trance.

I sleep with the cordless phone next to me and my next-door neighbor's number, just in case I need to call for help.

I even put chairs in front of the front and side door.

I realize this is completely stupid, but no matter how many times I tell myself I'm going to be fine, I just can't shut off those thoughts in my head.

Any advice?

im the same way. It’s tough. i have the cell hidden under the pillow, the dog curled right beside me,leave lights on and every small noise makes me jump!
If my husband happens to be out of town and i’m alone with the kids its even worst! ihave the kids in the bed as well curled around me to protect them. My advice would be to call one of your girl friends and make plans for a girls night. or a family member to come hang out with you.

Can’t help ya with that one.
If I have to be awake at 6:30 to get the kids ready for school, I wake at 5 and can’t go back to sleep. Solve that one for me :)

I sleep on the couch.. I feel much safer thee with the dog at my feet and the kitchen light on. Yhen, if anything does happen, I can run right out the door , screaming into the night :P

Have a girls night sleepover or get a bottle of wine and a good movie you could take a long bubble bath with a good book. Learn to enjoy those nights and pamper yourself becouse if your like me they are very rare and being a mom Im sure with a never ending list you deserve some me time.
