Would You Let Your Tween Wear This T?

A new line of sexually suggestive T-shirts from Hollister just hit the market -- right in time for back to school. Would you let your tween wear them? Our moms (and dads!) had more than a few things to say on the subject:

hollister tween tee shirts slutty

If I had a girl, she would be forbidden to wear shirts like this. Tweens are not emotionally ready to handle a sexual relationship, and they shouldn't be falsely advertising what they can't handle. Aren't young girls already overly sexualized? Let girls be girls ... not sex objects in training. -- Christina Gleason @ Cutest Kid Ever

What are these? Duh! They are t-shirts! Relax, they are just t-shirts. There is clothing that is a lot worse than this. Just because, say, a 16-year-old girl wears any one of these shirts doesn't mean anything. It's not like a girl wearing a t-shirt with a sexually suggestive [message] means she is going to put out. It should also be mentioned that just because a girl does NOT wear one of these t-shirts means that she is NOT putting out. Parents would be SHOCKED at what teenagers are doing sexually regardless of the type of clothing they are wearing ... or in some cases, not wearing. -- SPK

... Sure teenagers do things regardless of what they are wearing, but if you condone them dressing sexually or them making light of it, they will make light of sexual activities and will do more than they would if you said no. And tweens are not 16. Tweens are 11 to 13 years old. -- John

Lemme put it this way: I wouldn't ban shirts like this for the simple reason that I wouldn't *buy* them. So long as it's my money, I get to spend it as I see fit. -- Uly

... Do you know how many predators are out there that if they see a girl with a sexually suggestive t-shirt would attempt or just downright snatch your daughter up and rape her. What world are you living in? There are perverts that like to see little toddlers in bikinis. Wear a sexual platitude on your shirt and they immediately assume that if it says she likes the woody then she likes a woody. Perverts aren't going to analyze whether or not she means it. They don't think rationally. A study has already shown that when men see women wear sexually suggestive clothing they view them as objects ... -- Monica

Holy-Moly! I have 2 tweens, they love Hollister, but no-way on these shirts!

No way!!! My 10 year old loves Hollister, but she, or I, will not be buying these! What are they thinking? I am glad our school has a dress code and I have rules. These tees are too suggestive. Just another thing for kids (and perverts)to harrass other kids about. Like they really need more pressure. And if they ARE doing sexual things, they certainly don’t need to advertise it!

Not a chance in hell. I have a 10,11, and 12 year old. NO WAY would they wear these. I don’t understand why the media and society is pushing sex on little girls, then people have the gall to wonder why little girls are having sex. Little girls are supposed to be CUTE not HOT or SEXY.

I have a 13 and a 14 year old. I would never let them wear these shirts. If they were young adults, Id have something to say about the shirts too. I want my girls to treat and talk of their bodies as something sacred.

well my friends, it’s a perverted world we live in. Hollister and a&f have been selling shirts like these for years. I am n my early 20’s and I have a couple abercrombie and fitch shirts that from both stores that have suggestive sayings on them: 1.) This is what dreams are made of , 2.) Save water Shower together, 3.) can’t unwrap til Xmas, 4.) Santa said I’m on the naughty list.
I’ve had those shirts for years. so again, this is nothing newwww

No. F-ing. Way.

I wouldn’t wear these, why the hell would I let my daughters wear these?! I plan on teaching my girls that they are not just here as sex objects for men (or other women, for that matter) and these shirts have to part to play in that lesson.
