Her baby was delivered safely, but not by all-white nursing staff.
Hospital employees have now complained to the Equality and Human Rights Commission about the way the situation was handled, prompting the launch of a "full investigation" by the hospital.
A spokeswoman for the hospital said: "We take the interests and wellbeing of our staff very seriously, and any act of racial discrimination will not be tolerated.
"Discrimination and prejudice, whether from patients, visitors or staff is unacceptable, and this is a message that we will continue to communicate internally and externally."
She added that there were medical complications during the birth earlier this month, but that mother and baby had now returned home "safe, well and happy".
The investigation relates both to the medical complications and the concern expressed by staff "about the potential for discrimination should such demands be raised by patients in the future", the spokeswoman said.
She added: "We have got a diverse workforce here and we are very proud of that diversity."
Navrita Atwal of Milton Keynes Equality Council said: "I'm absolutely surprised by the circumstances of this case.
"What if there had not been a white doctor available? What would have happened then?
"I think the hospital staff should go through relevant training about how to think on their feet when this situation arises."
The hospital said it is thought to be the first time such a request has been made to them. They confirmed that the woman was not local to Milton Keynes, but would not say why she had made her request.

We all know why she made this request. Now what would have happened if the staff refused to help her because of her stupid request. Maybe she should think about that.
So I guess they will probably arrest and quickly execute the mom for her wishes??? I’m not prejudice, but the way this article was written, it made it sound as if the mom had committed an evil crime such as murder.

Maybe this woman had been assaulted by a young man of a non-white culture at some time in her life. Were questions asked as to why the lady made this preference?? NO….
Last I heard, it was a patient’s right to receive the proper care. So if this lady had issues with a certain race due to a previous assault, HOW AND WHY IS SHE THE CRIMINAL??

I feel she should have been concerned about the baby,having a healthy baby is all that would have been on my mind . I would never think of asking for something as silly as this.I feel sorry for her to even think this way,I am glad that she was denied.

this is ridiculous. Is the hospital staff so thin skinned that they are upset about someone’s preference? It says nowhere that she belittled, berated, or assaulted anyone (verbally or otherwise).
The woman merely made a request based on her preference. Whether that preference is a reasonable one to you and me is irrelevant. She did nothing wrong. She hurt no one. It is her RIGHT to think and believe what she wants so long as she does no harm to others in the process.
It’s very sad that in today’s world we are so micromanaged that it has become almost criminal to hold certain thoughts in your head. When did we start punishing thoughts? You may say that those thoughts were put to action when she made a request, but had the request been made for a Jewish doctor would it be an issue?
Do I think that the hospital staff was a little thin skinned? The answer is YES! Do I think that this woman is clearly a Racist? The answer is YES!! It’s unfortunate that there are people in this world that still discriminant based on someone’s skin color but is a criminal offense to request a white staff? The answer is NO!

It is ridiculous to say what if this woman had been assaulted by a non-white person before. Being a white woman if she has been assaulted by a white person would she then request no white people in the delivery room? Obviously not. Try to think things through before you make ludicrous suggestions. She is obviously racist and I have no idea why you would find it odd for there to be an investigation into it. It is to protect the non white workers who deserve more respect than what that woman gave to them when they were there to help her safely deliver her unborn child.
She wants to get that baby started off in racism properly. LOL.
