As Balloon Boy's dad insists it was all real, little Falcon Heene throws up on camera. Now his dad says he's getting "ticked off" by allegations.

Richard Heene, the father of "Balloon Boy" Falcon Heene, and his family appeared on the "Today" show this morning to clear their names and assure the country that yesterday's roller coaster of emotion was NOT a hoax.

During an interview Thursday night on CNN, Falcon said, "We did this for a show." Was the family busted?

"First of all, let's clarify: He's 6," Heene says. "I don't know that he really understood the question he was being asked."

The father explained that when the press came to the Heene home after the ordeal to interview the family, Falcon showed off his hiding place.

"One of the guys told him it was for some TV show. That's what he was referring to when he made that statement," Heene said.

Then little Falcon threw up before Vieira could personally ask him about his experience.

Vieira then asked Falcon's father if this was a staged stunt. "I'm repetitively getting asked this. What do I have to gain out of this? I'm not selling anything. I'm not advertising anything. My family and I, we do this all the time."

"We're always doing some kind of scientific research," Heene said. "We're always building something together. I teach my kids how to shoot cameras. It's highly educational for my boys ... This is not some kind of hoax."

Now that they have appeared on yet another interview I’m wondering. But first, are people paid to appear on these interviews? If yes then I’m definitely going with it was all planned.

People are not and are never paid for news interviews.
I don’t believe this was a hoax. This six year old is none-too-bright and should have been put in his room to play while the interviews were goingon. We should not be twirled around by what he blurts out. Really, the family needs to lock itself in the house, stop doing interviews, and contemplate the horror of what almost happened.

Many people do get paid for tv interviews. When people have legal counsel, the lawyer submits a huge bill to the network, keeps some for himself and gives his client the rest.

A network may claim technically not to pay for an interview, but people do get paid.”

People are so quick to call BS and judge these days, but they never stop to think of how they might react in the same situation. I think the father told the truth, and it took a lot for him to admit that he yelled at his son on national TV, since that could easily alert the CPS in his area to investigate his ‘abuse’. We ARE talking about a 6 year old child. His ‘slip’ on Larry King is easily explained by over excitement and he obviously was not feeling well, all of which could have contributed to distortion of the child’s account. What have we become? Just be glad that the child is safe. I feel for this man, who is making bold choices and teaching his children to do the same. People like him are molding the future leaders of this country, if we have one left for them to lead.

My gut is saying it was not a hoax. I could see one of my kids saying something like that, and having it be misconstrued. He had been on the news and on other shows, so I’m sure that was on his mind when he made that statement. Now, the parents need to be sent on time-out for letting things get out of control the way it did.

I saw that goofy family on Wife Swap. I remember the kids were total brats.I guess their 15 minutes of fame wasn’t enough. Was the puking planned? It seems like the mom had the bowl ready for him to puke in. What a bunch of IDIOTS!!!

Barf, Barf, Barf, puker boy!

mary October 16, 2009, 10:37 AM

yes it was a hoax. The sheriff stated they did a thorough search of the house twice. This tells me that the father found the perfect hiding place for the kid, a place no one could possibly think a kid could be hiding in. If a kid was just hiding from the father because he yelled at him then the kid wouldn’t have picked such an elaborate hiding space.

IT DOESN’T MATTER IF WAS OR WAS NOT. tHEY ARE HORRIBLE PARENTS. THERE SHOULD BE A TEST FOR PEOPLE TO BE ABLE TO HAVE CHILDREN. THIS IS A PRIME EXAMPLE.

Chunks October 16, 2009, 3:21 PM

LOL!!! The other children facial expression while their brother pukes is PRICELESS!!! I bet they, including dad, blew chunks after the interview LOL!!

angie October 16, 2009, 7:17 PM

I don’t know how someone could say that was fake. That boy was obviously sick- the dad didn’t appear to know what was going on and if those boys, that 6 year old or whatever is in fact a brat- you gotta feel for them somewhat. I think that little boy probably was so upset from what happened, not sleep etc. that it just got to him. I feel for the little guy. I also am one that believes the boy in fact did hide because he was afraid of his Dad and then it just escalated from there. will the truth come out, who knows but I think this was pretty elaborate for the boys to think up or they family even for that matter. The boy is safe that is all that matters.

mercaties October 16, 2009, 7:39 PM

No, I don’t think the Balloon incident was a hoax just irresponsible parenting. I do however think having the little boy who is obviously sick puke all over national t.v. was planned though for sympathy. He should not have been sitting their for that interview his mom had a bowl waiting for him to puke in because she knew he was sick! That was really really pathetic.
