She died of hypothermia.

Robert aragon

Last December, we told you about an Idaho man who let his 11-year-old daughter walk ten miles in freezing conditions along an isolated rural highway to her mom's house on Christmas Day after his car broke down.

She never made it. She died of hypothermia along the way. Then Robert Aragon was charged with involuntary manslaughter in his daughter's death.

On Friday, Robert Aragon was acquitted. He was also found not guilty of felony injury to a child after the jury of seven women and five men deliberated for about two hours.

Do you think he should have been held responsible for his daughter's death? Comment below.

WTF? How could he possibly have been found not guilty of sending his 11-year old daughter into a snow storm to walk to her mother’s house? That’s insane! He was responsible for her safety and she’s now dead…that makes him guilty!

This is a miscarriage of justice if ever there was one!

Not guilty is right. look at the man he looks devastated. why punish a man who is already suffering. moreover who cared about the girl more the state, or the FATHER?

Not guilty is SO WRONG!!!! who cares if he’s suffering??? he sould be. he was careless, negligent and did not act in the best interest of his CHILD…she was a minor and his responsibility.

If he let her walk the highway at night, and she was hit by a car everyone would scream guilty….same thing and he is absoloutely guilty of the crime, voluntary or not, he is the adult responsible for her death…pay the piper!!!

awww…well it was a dumb thing to do and he should be charged wit something but he shouldnt be charged on the same level as a person who purposely killed someone…he made a huge mistake

i doubt you would be say he is suffering enough if i was your child he killed

I believe he should have been charged with something. He is the father of the little girl. He is supposed to be taking care of her. He let her go knowing it was freezing cold outside. To me that would be considered neglect. He should have been charged with neglect, or endaring a child, or even involuntary manslaughter.

This article misses very important parts of the story! He had tried to dig out the car for over 2 hours, was suffering from hypothermia himself, which inhibits judgment, and his son decided to walk to the mother’s house, and his little sister wanted to go with, the father didn’t want them to go but his son insisted. This man may not have made the decision to let them go had he not been in the cold so long. He is suffering enough over the loss of his daughter, leave him alone. Stop trying to judge people you know nothing about

This happened right around us. I know how cold it gets here. Once you have hypothermia you do not think right. I honestly think that he did not realize how far away the house was and how cold it was outside. This was a terrible accident.

If I remember the story correctly. 20 mins after the kids started walking he and an uncle got the car out and headed home - not in the direction of his kids.
He never called their mother to let her know the kids where on foot - in ten feet of snow. The highway was plowed.
Re-reading the news article, only the uncle, who was ther and arrested and charged as well, stated in a taped interview, that the kids asked to walk.
The local newspapers and news station don’t state that.
The uncle also has a drug history - so how relaible is he?
