Great Idea: Costume Swap

Here's how your mom friends can help you save money this Halloween.

Momlogic's Julie: A friend of mine, who is a bit strapped for cash these days (aren't we all?), sent out a mass e-mail to her friends yesterday asking if anyone had a size 4T costume her son could wear this Halloween. I just happened to have two from Babystyle in that exact size, so I dropped them off to her yesterday.

I just love her ingenuity. Instead of spending money she doesn't have or charging $50 for a costume that will only be worn once, she reached out to her friends for help. And what good were my eight-year-old son's size 4T costumes doing collecting dust in the dress-up drawer, anyway?

I am often embarrassed to ask others for help. But this e-mail was a reminder that all of us moms should help each other out when we can ... especially in this economy. After all, that's what friends are for.
