PiscesMom Charged in Fire that Killed Her Two Kids
A mom has been charged today with first-degree murder in the fire that killed two of her children Friday.
Sharon Hinojosa, 29, is charged with two murder counts in the deaths of 4-year-old Anthony and 3-year-old Alayna.
Hinojosa had escaped the blaze with the one child she shared with her live-in boyfriend, Justin Whistler. The children killed had different fathers. She and Whistler were reportedly in the process of splitting up.
Hinojosa also has an 8-year-old daughter who lives with her father, neighbors said.
Hinojosa is now being treated at a local hospital after she ingested rubbing alcohol while in police custody.
The mother also was charged with arson of a house. She faces up to life in prison.
Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy said the crime "should send chills up the spine" of everyone.
