No Charges for Mother of 3-Year-Old Fire Victim, For Now

My Eyewitness News: The mother who left her two young sons home alone won't face criminal charges, for now. The Shelby County District Attorney's office says it won't make a decision until the investigation is finished. The case will be submitted to the grand jury for a final review.

Three-year-old Ladareon Dunn died in the fire Monday afternoon, October 19, 2009. His two-year-old brother is in the hospital tonight in critical but stable condition.
Cops say their mother, 23-year-old Melanie Dunn, left her toddlers alone for several hours while she went shopping with her aunt.
While she was gone, the house caught on fire. Police say the boys were locked inside the house.
The Department of Children's Services is also investigating. MyEyewitnessNews.com has learned that Dunn's other child, a five-year-old, is staying with relatives. He was at school when the fire broke out.
