When Jealousy is a Felony

What can a mom do to help a daughter who is spiraling out of control?

Ali Wise

Single Mom Seeking: When you first heard about Ali Wise -- the former P.R. director for fashion house Dolce & Gabbana who has been charged with hacking into the voicemails of women who dated her ex-boyfriends 337 times -- did you also wonder how her mother was doing in all of this?

I did.

I wonder if Ali's mother had seen any signs early on of this type of behavior. Is she there to support her daughter through all of this right now?

Ali Wise, age 32, now faces four counts of trespassing, tampering, eavesdropping, and stalking -- all felonies. She'd hacked into the voicemails of interior designer Nina Freudenberger and fashion designer Briana Rasinski (The identities of the other two women pressing charges haven't been made public). If convicted, she could be sentenced to four years in prison.

Most of us with tween or teen daughters have seen them get jealous from time to time -- especially when it comes to boys. But how does run-of-the-mill jealousy spiral into a hack attack like this one? And is there anything we can do as moms to stop it BEFORE it gets to this point?
