This Thanksgiving, gorge yourself on these food-focused flicks.

Momlogic's Momstrosity: Thanksgiving is the only holiday that everyone can get behind -- no matter how divergent our beliefs: Democrats and Republicans, Christians and Jews, People who hate Jon Gosselin, people who hate Kate. We all love to gorge ourselves on Turkey Day.

To satisfy the appetites of foodies and movie lovers alike, here's my list of movies about yummy delicious food to watch after your Thanksgiving binge. So, unbutton your top pants button, sit back, and enjoy.

Eight Best Movies to Watch in a Food Coma

Babette's Feast (1987)

The queen of all foodie flicks. The story of Babette, a newly hired and mysterious housekeeper who cooks a sumptuous meal for the residents of a small isolated village — including wine and champagne. Two elderly sisters don’t approve of “spirits,” and make the villagers vow to eat the meal but not comment on it. The dinner scene is hilarious, as the people begin to enjoy the meal despite their solemn promise not to.

Soul Food (1997)

This delicious movie focuses on the main character’s Sunday dinner — time to gorge themselves on greens, fried catfish, chicken and dumplings, red beans and rice, and cornbread. Rumor has it members of the cast gained about 20 lbs. just because of those scenes!

Big Night (1996)

The story of two brothers whose Italian restaurant is on the brink of bankruptcy. Their only chance for success is to risk everything they own on an extravagant feast for bandleader Louis Prima. A carb-tastic treat!

Ratatouille (2007)

In this animated feature, a rat named Remy dreams of becoming a great chef. His dreams are a bit harder to achieve than most, as he does not have his family’s support — and then there’s the small fact that vermin are not welcome in most fine eating establishments.

Like Water for Chocolate (1992)

A romantic fantasy set in the early 20th century about a young couple blocked from marrying by the demands of her cold and selfish mother. To be near his love, the young man marries her sister, and she expresses her passion for him through her cooking.

Soylent Green (1973)

Science fiction tale in the year of 2022. Society subsists on something called “soylent,” a synthetic, greenish wafer-like substance. What’s in Soylent Green? SPOILER: I won’t say, but it’s the same ingredient found in Mr. Sweeney Todd’s pies.

Tampopo (1987)

The Karate Kid of soup! The story of a young widow who runs a small noodle restaurant in Tokyo and her quest for the perfect bowl of ramen. Helping her to attain top ramen status is Goro, the truck driver who at first criticizes Tampopo’s cooking ability, and then helps her to master it.

Tom Jones (1963)

Although the entire movie doesn’t center around food, there is nothing quite like watching hunky Albert Finney tear through a pheasant.
