TMJ4: A Milwaukee firefighter was charged Tuesday with placing an anti-depressant in his wife's tea. The woman, a Milwaukee Police detective, took a sip and then gave the rest to the couple's 3-year-old son, who spit it back into the mug. Neither the mother nor son was injured.

According to a criminal complaint, she noticed that the boy "began to spit a white substance back into the cup" and "saw the substance on his lips and chin."

The suspect, 43, admitted to investigators that he and his wife were arguing and that "he put half a tablet of Lexapro in her tea to calm her down."

The Milwaukee County District Attorney's office charged the man--who is not being identified to protect the identities of his wife and child--with one felony count of placing a foreign object in an edible. If convicted, he faces a maximum penalty of three-and-a-half years in prison and $10,000 in fines.

That’s kinda funny, until the kid took a sip. Seriously, I have thought of doing that to my DH before. I never have, but he gets so moody for no reason!

wait but lexapro doesnt just work in a few minutes does it? dont you have to use it continuously for weeks to feel the effects?

@maeby, you’re right, Lexapro needs a build up. If it’s being used for anxiety they often give Ativan or something similar for emergency panic attacks.
