As if worrying about getting swine flu wasn't enough, now you can worry about getting scammed about swine flu, too.

The Better Business Bureau issued an alert warning the public to be wary of swine flu scams. Con artists are filling e-mail in-boxes with spam, hawking herbal remedies, bogus medicines and "survival kits" to frantic - and gullible - readers. Up for sale are H1N1-curing sprays, gels, herbal extracts, shampoos, teas, body washes, air systems, masks and other fake goods. The Food and Drug Administration hasn't approved any of these products and some of them might be harmful to your health, the Salisbury Post reports. The BBB cautions people to steer clear of any swine flu email and to update security systems and spam filters to keep the fake emails out.

It's sad to know that in any crisis there are always crooks out there waiting to pounce on people's anxiety and trick them into handing over their cash. Sadly, if enough swine flu vaccine had actually been available in time, grifters like these ones wouldn't have been able to play on people's fears.
