WKBW: A local Target employee claims she was fired for buying one of the hottest toys this holiday season.

Susan Kronbeck, an employee of the Walden Avenue Target for 13 years, claims she was fired for purchasing the popular Zhu Zhu Pet from her store.

Kronbeck worked the overnight shift at the store and purchased the hot toy a few weeks back. Target claims they put out a memo that warned employees not to buy the Zhu Zhu toys until 8 a.m. that day, but Kronbeck says she was never notified and bought the toy around 4 a.m. Target released this statement to Eyewitness News:

"At Target, we have policies and procedures in place to ensure our team members follow specific guidelines when purchasing items during their scheduled shifts. These guidelines are in place to provide our guests with the same purchasing opportunities as our team members. We are committed to making the items our guests want as available as possible to ensure a positive guest experience.

The team member purchasing guidelines policy is clearly communicated to all team members in the team member handbook and reminders of this policy are often communicated through such means as:

· Notifications posted in our stores · Reminder articles in internal team member news vehicles · Team huddles

Violations of these policies may lead to corrective action up to and including termination. Because this is a personnel issue we are unable to provide additional specifics regarding this incident."

Now Kronbeck worried, as she has mounting medical bills, and is unable to pay the next months' rent.

Well then she should have waited. I find it hard to believe that she was not notified not to buy the toys until it was available to the public.

The rules are the rules but it’s not like she bought a pallet of them and is trying to resell them. Also if
she has “mounting medical bills, and is unable to pay the next months’ rent” then maybe she shouldn’t have bought it in the first place.

It is clear to me. TARGET should be in charge of finding Osama Bin Laden. Nothing gets past Target!

If Target has these rules, shouldn’t the store not have even sold it to her? Who rang up her purchase at 4AM?
