Linda Tate pleaded guilty to menacing by stalking after prosecutors say
she sexted naked photos of her daughter's so-called rival to classmates
and school officials.
It seems impossible the headlines in the local newspaper -- "Mom Sexted Photos of Daughter's Rival" -- could be about Linda Tate. The parole officer she reports to (and will for the next four years) says he's never had a client like Linda -- a real "Booster Mom." Linda was a huge presence at the high school, helping out with the cheerleading squad and other activities. But Linda was sentenced to four years of probation for menacing by stalking -- prosecutors say she sexted naked photos of a cheerleader to teachers and students at the girl's high school.
It all started when Linda allegedly saw a cell phone video of a 14-year-old cheerleader giving her boyfriend oral sex -- on command -- at a party. Later in the video, the cheerleader and the boy are in a restaurant with a group of friends -- showing them the oral sex exploits caught on video and laughing and joking.
So what really happened? How did this mother of three end up charged with a felony? How could a mother's dedication to school spirit end in such an ugly way? A little background: To say Linda Tate was "supportive" or "involved" with the local high school her three children attended is like saying Angelina Jolie was "interested" in having children. We're told Linda Tate was the Booster Mother of Indian Creek High School in Wintersville, Ohio. She raised two cheerleader daughters who graduated from Indian Creek and logged more than 3,800 hours as a mom volunteer at the school. Linda hand-painted 2- by 3-feet pictures of the team football helmets in the high school parking lot -- each helmet had the hand-painted number of the football player, and his name written out ... along with the logo of the team. Linda, who is a gifted artist, painted a twenty-foot logo of the Indian Creek High School on the parking lot -- It was an attraction to anyone and everyone who saw the school.
Sources tell momlogic Linda was watching her son at a high school football game when she noticed parents, students -- even teachers and coaches -- looking at the provocative pictures of "The Cheerleader" (who, for legal purposes, will remain unidentified). We're told Linda felt if she didn't take some sort of action, she was not doing her duty as a mother. So Linda took the naked photos to the cheerleading squad's mothers. Sources say the mother of "The Cheerleader" in the photos told the other mothers simply she would "handle this."
Then more photos surfaced, this time pictures and video of the same young cheerleader in provocative poses, naked ... with a fully shaved and waxed body ... in different poses, with different hair colors.-- still the talk of the town. Linda then sent the photos to the sheriff of the town. When he did not respond, she appealed to the superintendent of Indian Creek. After no response again, Linda contacted the general manager of WTOV-9, in Wintersville, Ohio. The story never made air -- not that story, anyway ...
Linda was arrested and taken to jail. (She left on bail, and didn't spend the night.) Then the story hit the news ... but it was about Linda being charged with a felony. The authorities seized Linda's computer -- with all of the notes she had sent to the TV station. Those notes gave substance to the charge of "Intending to Cause Duress to a Minor" -- which is a felony. Linda was indicted on one count of menacing by stalking. The trial -- with "The Cheerleader" against Linda -- was looming. Then Linda agreed to plead guilty
to a misdemeanor.
So where is this cheerleader mom now? She's a convict. Linda does not go out alone -- and if she does, she must make sure there are video surveillance cameras in the places she does go. Why? Because if she is seen anywhere near "The Cheerleader" or her family she will be in violation of her probation and quickly sent to jail. She must report to a probation officer, refrain from using drugs, and is banned from using a firearm for life.
Sadly, this may not be the end of the story. Sources tell momlogic "The Cheerleader's" aunt was heard in the local beauty parlor saying: "We just hope Hugh Hefner sees these pictures and she gets a career out of this ..."
