WVGazette.com: A Putnam County kindergarten teacher has been arrested after allegedly hitting her daughter with a belt and making her dispose of her own vomit with her hands because the girl made a B in school.

Lura Jo Fisher, 38, of Eleanor was arrested and charged Wednesday with child abuse resulting in injury. Fisher is listed as a kindergarten and special education teacher at Hometown Elementary School on the school's Web site.

According to the criminal complaint filed in Putnam County Magistrate Court, Fisher became upset on Dec. 1 because her daughter had made a B in her fifth grade class.

"Fisher told her it wasn't good enough and that it should be an A," the complaint states.

Fisher made her daughter stand outside twice for about 15 to 20 minutes, and the second time the girl stood outside, she threw up, according to the complaint.

Fisher "made her pick it up with her hands and carry it into the house and put it in the commode," the complaint states.

After the girl disposed of her vomit, she began to walk up the stairs to take a shower, and her mother began "shoving and telling her she was walking too slow." She then took off her belt, put her daughter's head between her knees and hit her with the belt about 20 times, the complaint states.

Fisher then slapped her daughter, and told her to take a shower, the complaint states.

The next day, the girl's grandparents took her to school, and a teacher noticed that the girl seemed upset, the complaint states.

The girl told her teacher what happened and showed her the marks on her body. The school counselor was notified, and then the police, the complaint states.

Fisher was arraigned Wednesday and released on a $25,000 bond.
