Tiger, Was the Sex Worth It?

One dad sure doesn't think so!
Jay Brown: What the hell is wrong with Tiger Woods? All this guy had to do was show up to the golf course, hit a ball, and make a billion dollars. And he screwed it all up!
Maybe he wanted to be seen as something other than what he was -- more of a bad boy or something. I almost think he wanted to get caught cheating. But who throws away a billion dollars for sex? I mean, how good can it be? And he's got a hot wife already!
Here's a guy who for years and years and years was the squeaky clean image of sports. His dad was always around. Any time he swung a golf club, his father was there.
Now here Tiger is ... not exactly Dad of the Year. Lying, cheating. He's almost the complete opposite of his own dad, it seems.
And the scandal just gets crazier and crazier. First, he wrecks his car. His wife knocks out the window with a golf club. Then the voice mails surface. The cocktail waitress he allegedly bonked starts talking. Then another girl says he slept with her, too. And then a third girl calls a press conference, then cancels it. Tiger apologizes for his transgressions on his official website. There is talk of multimillion dollar payouts to his wife to stay.
Despite all that, will this scandal ruin him? Of course not. Tiger can clean it up. He's probably the richest athlete in the world. He can certainly pay a million here, a million there, to stop women from talking. A million to him is like a hundred bucks to you or me.
Some people say he can't be a role model anymore. I'm not much of a golf guy, so he was never a role model in my book to begin with. But, as a guy, I think he totally messed up. He's made close to a billion dollars, and all he had to do was do what he loved, and keep his nose clean.
How hard is it?

Seriously? You conclude an essay about a philandering male with “How hard is it?”.
Totally agree. I heard someone else on the radio say that this all started with Rock Hudson in the 1950s—cultivating a public image to support the product (movies/golf). I mostly feel bad for his kids.

You’re making it look like his wife is out of control too- she used the golf club to break the window so she could pull him out of the wrecked car- he was going in and out of consciousness at the time.
