New York Post: It's not easy being dead.

Kermit the Frog's grisly remains set off a terrifying bomb scare yesterday when employees at a Colorado school found him stuffed into a duffel bag in the parking lot, covered in red paint.

"There was a large doll of Kermit the Frog that appeared to have some paint or blood-type stain on it and that immediately caused some concern," police Cmdr. Mark Battersby told the Daily Camera newspaper of Boulder.

Cops shut down the Peak to Peak Charter School in Lafayette for several hours as the bomb squad was called in and used a remote-controlled robot to examine the stuffed frog's corpse.

It was quickly determined to be safe and the school reopened. Parents said they thought it was likely a senior prank.

Famed for his hit song, "It's Not Easy Being Green," Kermit has long had a stormy relationship with his on-again, off-again love interest, Miss Piggy.

Her whereabouts were unknown yesterday, but friends had said she had recently been emotionally unstable after a perceived slight in which Kermit did not immediately acknowledge her undying love.
